Some people’s New Year’s resolutions include their new fight to get fit or to go on a diet. Other people’s New Year’s resolutions are a bit more ridiculous. Here are some examples of resolutions NOT to make:

1. Finish a Chapstick

2. Don’t be convinced by that 2 a.m. infomercial

3. Eat more bacon

4. Meet less people

5. Be meaner and hotter

6. Puke and rally

7. Get cooler

8. I don’t need one because I’m perfect

Instead maybe make some of these your resolutions:

1. Don’t look at your phone so much, human interaction is a good thing

2. Be a part of the human journey, meet your neighbor, help them out, don’t hide in your house

3. Be accepting of everyone and everything whether it’s sexual orientation or another political party, understand their side and view

4. Get an UBER or a Designated Driver instead of doing anything stupid at 2am.

5. Learn to manage your time better

6. Pay off debts

7. Go back to school and get that degree!

8. Use sunscreen

9. Learn ways to healthier eating

10. Start saving money!

11. Keep your exercise routine

12. Learn to cook

13. Find a hobby and stick with it!

14. Stay positive

15. Help people who need it

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
