Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and in light of recent events regarding politics, it could not have come soon enough.

As we all know, Thanksgiving is a time to say thanks to the people and things in life that make you smile and we need more smiles in the world right now. No matter if you are happy about the new President- Elect or terrified, on Thanksgiving day, lets push past all that hate and remind each other that they are loved.

Despite the riots and protests, or people calling the protesters "babies", this week I hope I see no hate on either end of the spectrum and I hope to see lots of turkey and pumpkin pie. As a country, we have never been more divided (well maybe the Civil War is an exception) and that's not what Thanksgiving is all about!

This week, forget all the hate and hurt this country is going through and just be with your family and friends, focusing on what really matters: Food.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement.
