We Need Just One More
Laura Peck

Deep inside every one of our hearts is some kind of desire. Some of our desires are big and bold and obvious, and others are whispers that even we cannot always hear. Our desires and passions are what drives us forward, even if subconsciously.

So what do we do when we reach a turning point? A time where we can pivot and move ahead in some way, closer to the light of our desires and passions?

Sometimes moving forward is absolutely terrifying. Why would we want to move away from our comfortable place? It can be easier to play it safe, and sometimes it is better to play it safe, but when there is a passion in your heart, safe isn't always part of the equation.

How do we get okay with taking giant steps forward, unsure if the ground will catch us the way that we want it to?

If it is truly your passion, perhaps the desire and excitement will outweigh the copious amount of fear that may be present.

Remember, fear is our friend, fear keeps us alive in healthy doses, but too much fear paralyzes us, too much fear can keep us from living out of faith and making courageous decisions.

Our brain can also kick in and start thinking a little too practically. That's what we get for living in such a pragmatic society.

Someone has already done a project like this. You aren't as good as that other person working on something similar. This is not needed in our world. You will just be in the way, unnecessary.

But WAIT.

Yes, it may be true that there are already a lot of teachers in the world, but maybe there is somewhere that someday will have an empty position for you. If you didn't take that job, perhaps the students you would impact would just slide by.

Maybe we need just one more.

Yes, there are a lot of memoirs that have been written, but nobody has written your specific story. What if what you experienced is exactly what somebody needs to hear?

Maybe we need just one more.

God didn't create a beautiful beach and then decide that one beach was all that was needed. He created many beaches for the enjoyment of many of his children, all over the world.

We need more than one beach.

And maybe we need more than one of whatever it is that is living in your heart.

In the tradition of Rob Bell, yes someone has done it before, but no one has done it like you before.

There are obstacles. There are things that may not make sense. But you, you have the ideas and the dreams.

"How is not my job, and why is not my business," Kristin Hanggi and Natalie Roy Robcast 175.

This is why there are so many jobs. You aren't required to do the writing, editing, advertising, and publishing. You get to do what you are best at, and others get to do what THEY are best at.

How is it going to happen? Right now, that's not the issue.

Why it is important? Right now, that is not the issue.

The issue is that thing deep inside of you, beckoning you to create and send out something new, new for you.

Listen closely, what if we need just one more?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
