There is no such thing as a hopeless romantic. In fact, those who find themselves in love are the most hopeful people on earth. Why, you may ask, do people refer to others as a “hopeless romantic?” This is an expression used to describe a person who has romantic notions about life. Think of these people as the sentimental dreamers who are in a constant shuffle between life and love, then magically tying them together to create hope. Exactly how is that hopeless?
“I love you”

Society has coined "hopeless romantic" and violated its true definition. The hopeless romantic you are probably most familiar with would be the sappy, advocate for love, most often displayed in television sitcoms. For example, Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother, Dan from Gossip Girl, Steve from Full House (or Fuller House), Felicity from Felicity, Dawson from Dawson’s Creek, Carrie from Sex and The City, Ross from Friends, or Bill from True Blood. I listed as many characters as possible in order for one of them to be relatable to you. These characters are portrayed as pathetic creatures with no chance of obtaining their true love—Yeah, OKAY.
"Actually, there is a word for that. It's love. I'm in love with her, okay? If you're looking for the word that means caring for someone beyond all rationality and wanting them to have everything they want no matter how much it destroys you, it's love! And when you love someone - you just don't stop. Ever".
Name one of these characters who did not end up with their true love. Go ahead, I’ll wait. You will have trouble doing so because the word “hopeless” does not even exist in their vocabulary. They are full of hope and willing to do whatever it takes for love. You know that point where you have to decide to leap, where many turn away, or give up, the “hopeless romantic” rushes without worry of the future and jumps as far as they can. They are not afraid of failure; they are more afraid of never knowing if their true love could ever reciprocate the same feelings.
"When you love someone you just, you...you don't stop. Ever. Even when people roll their eyes or call you crazy. Even then. Especially then. You just - you don't give up because if I could give up... If I could just, you know, take the whole world's advice and - and move on and find someone else, that wouldn't be love. That would be... That would be some other disposable thing that is not worth fighting for. But that is not what this is."
I proudly wear my heart on my sleeve and seek love in every aspect of my life. While some may call it hopeless, I call it a precious quality only irrational, charismatic, beautiful people are worthy enough to maintain.
"You will be shocked when you discover how easy it is in life to part ways with people forever. That's why when you find someone you want to keep around, you do something about it."
To the practical satirist reading along, I challenge you to seek love in everything you set out to accomplish in life, because romance is currently sinking due to the overwhelming sex appeal in contemporary society.
"But love doesn't make sense. You can't logic your way into or out of it. Love is totally nonsensical. But we have to keep doing it, or else we're lost and love is dead and humanity should just pack it in. Because love is the best thing we do.”
There is only one true difference between a hopeless romantic and a hopeful dummy - plastic.
