Dear superheros,
This one is for the people who show all of us that unconditional love is real and existent if we want it to be. The ones who posses this extraordinary and supernatural talent to save us from anything. They have an ability to provide the most perfect umbrella through unstoppable storms. Without these people, we would not be as confident in our decisions nor would we be given the unimaginable opportunities we are given. The people with the title of “parents” are the greatest superheroes any child could have. If you are lucky enough to have parents who would move mountains for your happiness, please never stop giving them the uttermost respect they deserve.
Thank you, mom and dad, for doing everything in your power to ensure that I am one of the happiest girls in this world. Thank you for installing the morals that you have during my 18 years of living at home. College was really the awakening of realizing how amazingly blessed I am to be raised by the two most amazing people there ever was. I hope with all my heart that I am able to give my kids half as great of a place to call home.
I don’t think it will ever be possible for me to express how much I appreciate you but here is my attempt at doing so. First, I owe you a big apology. I am so sorry for being that bratty high schooler who would slam doors if you refused to say yes to me. I blame it on teenage angst but as I’ve grown but as I've grown older, I cannot fathom how I could have behaved so rudely towards the people who want what’s best for me. Sorry for telling you your ruining my life when you didn’t let me stay out late on that Saturday night. Now that I can stay out as late as I want both at home and away from home, I feel so ridiculous for making you feel upset because of something for my selfish need.
I’m really sorry for never letting you have conversations with my friends in high school. Time has made me call you guys my best friends, and I now realize how great and also humorous the conversations you share with my friends are. Having real conversations with you made me realize that you guys are actually really cool and I am just now realizing that you actually do understand what it’s like to be twenty years old and just have fun. I am sorry for the tears that you had to see when you said no to going to somewhere the night of a final exam. You were looking out for my future and I really appreciate that. Now I know that you will let me do what I want if I have real conversations with you. I am sorry for creating such a strong miscommunication which led to constant fighting during my high school years. But most of all mom and dad, I am so sorry for never saying sorry. So here is my very condensed apology to you.
There are many things I want to thank you for but here are just a few.
Thank you for showing me that a smile is prettier than anything Chanel can design.
Thank you for building a glass half full mentality in me by always seeing the positive side of even the worst things.
Thank you for never sugar coating anything.
Thank you for loving me when I was hardest to love. You made me feel like I always deserved to be loved.
Thank you (sorry you have to) for funding my shopping addiction, I promise my new years resolution is to get better at that.
Thank you for listening to all my opinions and trying your best to see my side in everything.
Thank you for teaching me discipline and dedication by what you do.
Thank you for making me learn to compromise with others.
Thank you for showing me that kindness is the most beautiful thing a person can hold.
Thank you for making me get off Facebook and live in the moment.
…..this list could go on but thank you for being you, mom and dad. I love you to the moon and back
Love, your baby girl.
