I attend college in Washington and this past weekend was my Fall Break. We had a total of four days off, so my mom flew up to Washington and we drove up to Canada. We visited Vancouver and Whistler, to be exact. There was a pretty terrible storm heading our direction and once we got up there, it rained the whole time. However, the rain almost added to the beauty, so I thought I'd share some of my favorite parts of Canada in hopes that if you ever get to go, you'll enjoy it too!
The Drive Up from Washington
About three and a half hours from the Seattle-Tacoma Airport and you're in Vancouver! The drive up may have actually even my favorite part because there were so many beautiful trees and sights to see, even though it was pouring.
Granville St.
Our first night, we walked along Granville St. in downtown Vancouver. It was only misty so the weather wasn't very bad, and the lights of the city were so beautiful! Granville Street also had tons of places to go shopping and lots of yummy restaurants.
The Food
Like this restaurant! A cute little (emphasis on the little, it was a very small place) restaurant just a few blocks from our hotel had delicious tapas to snack on and very yummy mixed drinks.
Capilano Suspension Bridge
The next morning we drove about 15 minutes out of town to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. There is a huge bridge (450 ft.) to walk across, as well as this awesome walk way that curves around a cliff. It rained while we were here but we didn't mind, the rain and mist almost made the views even better.
Stanley Park Food
We then headed back into Vancouver and stopped in Stanley Park, a beautiful park in the middle of Vancouver. There are all sorts of gardens and beautiful things to see, but we stopped at a cute little restaurant called the Tea House to have brunch. It was so good!
Granville Island
Then we headed over to Granville Island. If you've ever been to Pike's Place in Seattle, it gives off a very similar vibe. It is a huge indoor farmers market with every food you can imagine, delicious desserts, and yummy treats. It's a great place to go to get out of the rain for a little while.
Enjoying the Rain
Sometimes it was just impossible to enjoy the rain so we did our best to enjoy it!
Squamish
Then to Squamish, where you can take a Gondola up a huge mountain to see this magnificent view.
The Suspension Bridge at Squamish
After taking the Gondola, this suspension bridge is on top, which offers beautiful views of the whole valley and a fun little adventure.
Canada was such an awesome place! The sights were so beautiful and I loved every second of the trip. We had the best time, hope you do too! :)
