These are five novels that I really enjoyed reading; some of these novels touched me deeply and brought tears to my eyes. A lot of these books have a spiritual and/or emotional feel to them. All these books are pretty short with the exception of The Book Thief which is a little longer than the others.

1. The Great Divorce, by C.S. Lewis, 1973. C.S. Lewis is a great author and has written many great books on spirituality as well as just great stories like Narnia. This book talks about the afterlife and Heaven and Hell. The book follows a man who is in Hell, he finds a bus on its way to Heaven, the man takes his journey and learns a few valuable lessons and has a twist at the end that I really enjoyed.

2. The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, 2005. This was an amazing book that had me eager to turn the next page. I originally did not think this book was going to be amazing, but my girlfriend encouraged me to read it and assured me I would enjoy it; she was right. This book brought tears to my eyes. The story follows a little girl in Germany by the name of Liesel Meminger, during the time of WWII. The story is told from the unique perspective and is very interesting and touching. I became very attached to these characters.

3. For One More Day, by Mitch Albom, 2006. This book was another touching novel, that focuses on a man named Charley; he is an alcoholic and emotionally broken. Charley ends up attempting to kill himself, but ends up living and is given a second wind at life after some spiritual guidance and encouragement.

4. The Boy Who Drew Monsters, by Keith Donohue, 2014. This is an amazing story about a 10 tear old boy named Jack Peter Keenan. Jack has Aspergers and just about one friend. This book has a supernatural aspect to it that I thought was very unique. The tone that this book was written in is kinda creepy and portrays great imagery of the New England states. There is a heavy theme of isolation through the book that is unnerving. Overall it was a great read and had a great ending.

5. Tuesdays With Morrie, by Mitch Albom, 1997. This book was yet again another touching novel by Mitch. This book is about a man who has grown up and has reconnected with his old college teacher, who is dying of ALS in his old age. After reconnecting with his old teacher they meet every Tuesday until Morrie dies of his disease. Life topics are discussed through the book in a touching way that encourages the reader to do some heavy reflecting on their own life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
