Oh, Sansa Stark.
Now, a lot of people have mixed feelings when it comes to this fictional character from the first book of the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" and later the TV adaption "Game of Thrones". However, I think she is one of the best characters from the entire franchise.
In the beginning of the series we got a first hand look at the characters and how they perceived the world. Right off the bat Sansa Stark was a girl who believed in fairytales and a golden prince. She was raised as the second oldest child in the Stark family and first daughter. She was taught to sew and learned how to be the perfect lady. Many will argue that Sansa (at first) was stupid for not being a fighter like her wild sister Arya and for choosing to believe in her horrible husband-to-be Joffrey and his even worse mother Cersei.
But here is how I view things: Sansa was born as a daughter to a family that is set in the medieval times. Back in those days women where not seen as equal to men and daughters were taught to be the perfect wife and mothers. Sansa was one of those girls who had to follow the rules of her house and that of her future husband.
Now that season six has aired on HBO, we can safely say that this is the season Sansa Stark has finally taken action. For five seasons we have witnessed her being beaten, married off to men she didn’t love, and raped by a complete psychopath. Throughout the seasons we have seen the little dove that was trapped in a cage turn into a full bloodied she-wolf. She is now finally free from the liars and is no longer a pawn, but a player in the game of thrones.
I think Sansa will now plan and conquer; after all, she did have the best teachers in the forms of Petyr Baelish and Cersei Lannister. She is no longer naïve and will play any part she has to in order to seize Winterfell. In season six episode four, we see the new Sansa starting to shed the innocent coat of hers for a new brave one. She is going to take back her home even if that means she has to do it alone. This is huge because the dainty girl she used to be would never suggest it, but the women she is now would.
I think Sansa should be considered one of the most important women in the show. She is showing that even if you have been kicked down multiple times, sometimes you have to push through it and get back up. For the rest of the season my hopes are that Sansa destroys the Boltons and kills Ramsay. I know he is one of the best villains in the show, but he needs to go. Then, after they reclaim their home, Sansa and Jon will work to rebuild Winterfell. From there, they will have to deal with the real danger, the zombie white walkers from beyond the wall.
