Reputation is finally here and Tay is back and better than ever. This album is so honest and she really doesn't hold back anything. This album really does have something for everyone from a song with Future and Ed Sheeran, to a ballad, and bringing back her old feud with Kanye and Katy Perry. I have been a Taylor Swift fan from the beginning of her career, I went so far as to get lyrics of hers tattooed on my body, so I would like to give my opinion and thoughts on each song on Reputation. So without further ado, are you ready for it?
1. Ready For It
The beat, the music video, the lyrics, this song is amazing! From the very first song on the album she is telling us that this is new and shes never done an album like this before. What I really wanted to talk about here though is the music video. I love the concept of old Taylor breaking new Taylor out and letting her climb to the top.
2. End Game
To be honest, I had to listen to this one a few times before I knew what I thought about it, but it is now one of my absolute favorites on the album. This song contains some very tweetable/Instagrammable lyrics, my favorite being I swear I don't love the drama, it loves me. I mean come on, shes been in the spotlight since she was 15 years old with no big scandals, there's bound to be people out there wanting to cause problems.
3. I Did Something Bad
Again, one of my favorite tracks from Reputation. Most days you can find me up in the gym on the treadmill going as hard as I can to this song. Again, instagram caption worthy lyrics, my favorite from this one is If a man talks shit then I owe him nothing and I don't regret it one bit cause he had it coming. This song is constantly on repeat in my car and has been since it came out.
4. Don't Blame Me
Not one of my favorites but a good song none the less. Its very honest in regards to her love life. My interpretation of this song is that shes almost trying to explain herself to the media about her past loves. Its kind of like a clap back to all the people saying she writes about only love or to her exes saying she is crazy.
5. Delicate
Another classic Taylor Swift song about falling in love. I like this song because it feels so honest. You meet someone and you just know but it still feels to soon. She knows her name has been thrown around in the media but this guy still likes her for her.
6. Look What You Made Me Do
Back to the old Kanye West/Katy Perry feud. I LOVE IT. Although the song might not be one of the best on the album, we can all agree that the music video was pure genius. She really does a great job at showcasing the new Taylor.
7. So It Goes
This song shows us a side of Taylor we have never gotten to see before. Its a very intimate song and you can almost feel what she felt when writing it. I think its safe to assume that this song is written about the same person that Delicate is about due to the honesty and the intimacy of the lyrics.
8. Gorgeous
As much as I love this song I feel like it doesn't really fit on Reputation. It feels kind of random compared to the beat and even the lyrics of the other tracks, but that's exactly what I meant when I said there is something for everybody on this album. I also feel like a lot of women, of any age, can relate to a song like Gorgeous.
9. Getaway Car
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE ALBUM! There really aren't enough words to describe how in love with this song I am. To me it's Taylor saying that you can be with a person and still not know them. It's her saying that it's okay to leave someone if you don't see yourself with them. It's her leaving but also explaining to him that she knew it wouldn't work out from the get go.
10. King Of My Heart
This song really makes us think that Taylor has found her forever. Really the whole album makes us think she has found her person. She's saying that she has been with many people, but he makes her feel so much more than anyone else.
11. Dancing With Our Hands Tied
This song is really not one of my favorites, but I still like it. The lyrics really flow and it has a fun beat but it really isn't one that sticks out to me when I think of Reputation. I really don't have much to say about this one. I'm sure it will grow on me though, after all, the Reputation era just started.
12. Dress
Gotta be honest, this is my least favorite on the album. It feels very repetitive, but again, I still like it, I still listen to it and I still know every word. The lyrics to this were leaked before the album released so maybe I am paying more attention to the lyrics instead of the song as a whole but I feel like she could have taken the subject of the song and done so much more with it. I also wish I had more to say about this one but it doesn't really do much for me.
13. This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things
Two words: YES TAYLOR! This is a song literally everyone can relate to. I really can't describe it in detail, just go listen. Do yourself a favor and go listen and then instagram/tweet all of the lyrics.
14. Call It What You Want
Yet another song she gave us before Reputation was officially released. This one I really like a lot because it kind of lets us know in a way why she disappeared for a while. She fell in love and she was changing herself into the person she wants to be. Major props to her for having the courage to be herself.
15. New Years Day
Another one of my favorites. This is another one that sounds kind of random to be on Reputation but I'm really happy it is. Its her realizing that who you kiss at midnight on New Years Eve may not be the person who you love and who loves you. The person you really are meant to be with is the one who comes back and helps you clean up the next morning. It's not always about who is there for the fun, it's usually about the person who continues to be there afterwards.
And there you have it friends, a full review of Reputation by yours truly!
