My Response To The Misconceptions Of Christians Comment
Courtney Frost Facebook

I decided to write a response to a comment I received on my most recent piece. The woman spoke from the viewpoint of every person that would disagree with me. What it comes down to is a person's personal beliefs and if they believe that there is a God or not. Plain and simple, someone that does not believe in God will not agree with me. And that is fine. That is expected and I understand. However I would still like to share my rebuttals to the refute I received.

1. Apparently being gay is wrong because gay people can't have kids.

Being gay is wrong because God said it is, not because they can not have children.

2. Does she not support the idea that some people don't want to have kids?

I never said anything about not supporting people that do not want children. Just because I do not support a homosexual lifestyle does not mean I do not support people that do not want children.

3. What about artificial insemination and adoption?

These are definitely options that allow gay couples to have children. Wxcept with artificial insemination the child would only be one or the other's, which is unfortunate because I don't know who wouldn't want their child coming from someone other than their spouse. I also believe the dynamic of having a mother and father in a child's life is very important. I, and so many other people I know, have a very different relationship with their father than their mother. A mother and father bring different dynamics to family structure

5. How about people that were born infertile? What was up with that one, God?

Since you are acknowledging that there is a God, I assume the same God I was talking about, why would He allow everything to be perfect when we break His law everyday? People expect our Creator to prevent bad things from happening when not one of us will ever be worthy of His compassion and grace, even though He has already given us so much.

7. Or people who were born hermaphrodites?

This very rare disorder is a result of sin coming into the world.

8. Everyone is born differently and the idea that you know that they were destined to be one way or the other is crazy.

Of course everyone is born differently. God gave us the gift of uniqueness which is what makes Him and us so amazing. If the only thing that makes us different is our biology, then that would be crazy indeed. However, our thoughts, opinions, hobbies and interests makes us all different. Just because I believe God made us man and woman, doesn't mean that we are all the same. There are plenty of other ways to be different which is what is so amazing about the world we live in.

9. Being gay isn't "formed later in life," but rather is part of the development of the child.

This is exactly my point, there is not an actual genetic link to homosexuality. It is part of the development of someone.

10. It ended up being another Christian trying to hide blatant discrimination with words of "love."

I believe I made it a point to say I wouldn't neglect love for someone that practices homosexuality. And that "I fully believe it is not right to be rude, mean, or hostile to individuals who struggle with a different type of sin than my own." You have proved my point within your comment that people that do not agree with my beliefs believe Christians discriminate against gays. At no point in the article did I advocate hatred for anybody. You had already made up your mind when you realized that I did not support homosexuality.

11. The Bible was used as a reason to keep slavery and to punish women. Only white men remain unscathed.

People have twisted the Bible at times for their own personal gain. Many verses have been taken out of context.

12. Of course it will be used to hate the queer community.

At no point was I expressing hate toward the LGBTQIA community. Rather, stating why I do not agree with them. I do not agree with a lot of people in my life, but they're my family, my best friends and people that I love. So I treat them with respect, regardless.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
