I don't make resolutions every year, and I know most resolutions are cliche, and in the end most people do not keep them. However, that shouldn't be the case. We should try to improve ourselves each and every year, no matter how small the change or how many we make. This year I want to make several small changes to the way I live my life, so I am making resolutions that I plan to follow.
1. Exercise More
My goal is not to just lose weight, but to do so by exercising more. I want to be healthy and feel healthy both physically and mentally. I have always found exercise to be a good stress reliever, and with all the stress from school, I need to made sure I am setting myself up to be successful.
2. Study More
Every semester I plan to study more, but this semester I am going to make it happen. I will use syllabus week to schedule out my semester, so that I know when assignments are due, and I give myself plenty of time to complete them.
3. Spend Less
This year I will keep a budget for things like food and clothing. I will also keep track of my spending so that I know exactly how much I am spending in what areas, and can cut down on the things I am spending excess amounts of money on.
4. Be Kinder
I am predisposed to be selfish, so this year I want to really evaluate how I treat my friends, and even strangers. I want to make sure my friends know how much I care about them, and that I will always be there whenever they need anything.
5. Follow Through
Sometimes I tend to say things, either to myself or to others with good intentions, however sometimes I do not follow through either because I forget or because I did not have the time to do so in the first place. This year I want to follow through and do the things I say I will do. If I cannot do something then I want to keep my mouth shut, and not make promises I can't keep.
6. Get Rid of Clutter
Over the years I have collected tons of knick-knacks and plenty of clothing items. However, I do not use a lot of what I have, and there is no reason to keep thing that I do not need. This year I want to question myself more, and get rid of the things I do not need, so that someone who does need them or wants them can get better use out of them.
