My Night Out with Sam Hunt

My Night Out with Sam Hunt

Did I actually have a night out with Sam Hunt? Well, not really. I saw him perform in Jackson on February 7. Were there tons of other girls there swooning over him as much as I was? Yes. Did I still have a fantastic night swaying to the beat of his music and singing off-key as loud as I could? I absolutely did!

Maybe you have heard of Sam Hunt, maybe you haven't. Maybe you like country music, maybe you don't. Sam Hunt is not your typical country singer, though. His music has almost an R&B type feel to it at times. And to say he puts on a great show, that would be an understatement.

I first heard of Sam Hunt about nine months ago. "Leave the Night On" was his most popular song, but what people didn't know was that it wasn't his only song on the radio. Hunt actually wrote "Come Over" by Kenny Chesney, "Cop Car" by Keith Urban, and "We Are Tonight" by Billy Currington. To say that he has talent writing music would also be an understatement.

I knew his tour had sold out, but I hadn't realized what that actually meant until I drove around downtown Jackson looking for a place to park my car. Then, the line outside of Hal & Mal's was absolutely ridiculous. Inside the venue, people crowded the stage knowing that Sam Hunt would not be stepping onto it for almost another two to three hours. The place was an absolute mad house with people excited over seeing Sam Hunt!

Native Runs opened for him. Having never heard of them, I didn't recognize any of their songs, but they had a great sound! They left the stage and the energy in the room kept escalating because everyone knew Sam Hunt would soon be taking the stage. He walked out a few minutes after 10 p.m., and the room went crazy! Hunt had officially arrived!

He performed all of his most popular songs from "Leave the Night On" to "Take Your Time" to "Break Up in a Small Town" before he mixed things up a bit. When Sam Hunt started singing "Strawberry Wine" in person, I got chills from head to toe. He has such a presence on stage and such a masculine but charming voice that he executed the song flawlessly! If you haven't heard his cover of it, look it up!

Unfortunately, the show had to end, and I had to leave. It was a truly spectacular show that I will never forget, though! Sam Hunt is definitely a rising star that you need to check out if you haven't yet!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
