Well, we all know what a New Year's Resolution is, right? Well this year, I'm trying something new. It's my "New Semester" Resolution. Looking back on my past semesters I've noticed one huge similarity. Actually, there have been two. They all have been filled with stress and procrastination. After getting my syllabi this semester, I realized that if I wait until the last minute for all of my assignments due, I'm going to be way too overwhelmed. So for this semester, I'm making myself a New Semester Resolution. So here it goes!
This semester, I am going to work one week ahead of all of my assignments. So far, so good. I have almost everything completed for next week and the week is not even over yet! I can tell you that it feels 100 times better than staying up until midnight the night before a research paper or book analysis is due. Who wants to go to class looking like this anyways?
This semester, I am going to workout at least four out of five days a week. Also, this part of my resolution is going very smoothly. I find that whenever I workout for about an hour, I have much more energy throughout the day. Those boring textbook readings don't put me to sleep as quickly as they did in past semesters. If all goes well, I'll have an excuse to eat even more at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. So it's a win-win for me, right?
This semester, I am going to eat more healthy food options. This kind of tags along with my workout schedule. Just like working out, eating healthy food gives me a ton more energy. It also doesn't make me feel as guilty as devouring a bag of Doritos in five minutes. Truth be told, I wish my carrots were smothered in Ranch dressing instead of eating them plain. But hey, new semester, new me!
Finally, this semester I am going to trust the guidance of God to lead me through. I promise to let myself be guided by Him and let him take all my worries away. Philippians 4:6 reads, "Do not worry about anything, instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done." Besides, if it were not for Him, I would not have possibly got this far in my college career!
This semester by far is the hardest one yet, and it is only week three of school. But, with my New Semester Resolution, I am hoping for a smooth, quick, enduring ride during this new year of school! I think this whole New Semester Resolution thing will be a good thing. But we will see. Good luck to all of you freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior college students out there! What will your New Semester Resolution be?
