I have mentioned this before, but I am bad at watching movies I want to see and keeping up with TV shows. Even books I have read and enjoyed that have gotten made into movies, I haven’t seen yet. Here are ten of them.
"Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children" by Ransom Riggs.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children came out sometime last year. I meant to see it, but I was still in school and busy with my jobs. While I was interested in seeing this movie—I love Eva Green as Miss Peregrine—I was not dead-set on it. I have read the first two books in the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children trilogy, but have not gotten around to the last book. I enjoyed them, except I didn’t love them.
"Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte.
Easily one of my all-time favorite classical novels, I have not seen the movie based off of Jane Eyre. I have it on my Netflix to-watch list. I meant to watch it for a long time, yet I keep getting distracted by things like Ripper Street and Thirteen Reasons Why. Although, I am a little worried. From what I’ve heard about the Jane Eyre, they don’t cover everything but Jane’s relationship with Mr. Rochester. And there is more to her life than that.
"Sense and Sensibility" by Jane Austen.
Another of my favorite classics, as well as my favorite Jane Austen novel, the Sense and Sensibility movie also has one of my favorite actors. Alan Rickman plays Col. Brandon, my favorite Jane Austen hero, and I never knew this until after he died. I love the romances in this story and the strong family bonds, especially between the Dashwood sisters. I seriously want to watch this movie. Unfortunately, it is not available on Netflix yet.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" by J.K. Rowling.
Yes…it is true. I have not seen Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Yet. I don’t know why. The only reason I can think of is that, at the time it came out, is I was working at Macy’s during the beginning of the holiday season and had virtually no free time. I desperately want to remedy this.
"Vampire Academy" by Richelle Mead.
I love the Vampire Academy books like I love M&M chocolate chip cookies. It does not have adequate nutritional but it’s so good, once I start reading, I can’t stop. Unfortunately, from what I have heard of the movie adaption of Vampire Academy, it is a love child of Twilight and Mean Girls. Not sure if I’m ready for that kind of junk food overload.
"Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes.
The only reason I have not watched this movie, despite having loved the book and the actors playing the two main roles, is because I refuse to watch it without my friend Lisa. We wanted to watch this movie together, but these things called jobs got in the way. I read Me Before You first, and then recommended it to Lisa. After she read it, she texted me saying: “I hate you for telling me to read this.” Therefore, she is the only person I will watch this film with.
"City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare.
I think this movie came out before I actually picked up The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Since Cassandra Clare herself said it is the movie that has stuck true to her books more than the TV show Shadowhunters on Freeform, I want to watch City of Bones more. Also, it has Jamie Campbell Bower and Lily Collins in it. Two very pretty people I like looking at.
"Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan.
I did not read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series until last summer and I enjoyed them very much. They were fun, fast reads with great characters. I totally see why people love them. Friends that have read the books as well as watched Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief have told me that, while the movie is good, it is not worthy of being called an adaption of a book. Not sure if I still want to watch this film or Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters any time soon.
"A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness.
A book I read last year and the movie adaption released in January, A Monster Calls is a real tearjerker. The book definitely made me want to cry. It takes a lot for a book to make me cry—a book is always guaranteed a five star rating if that happens though—but movies I will shed tears freely. That is why, I need to be in an emotionally safe place when I finally watch A Monster Calls.
"Paper Towns" by John Green.
Paper Towns is my favorite John Green book. I love the main characters and I love the influence of literature, like with Walt Whitman’s poetry. It was a fun read. I expect it to be a fun movie, too, once I finally get around to watch it.
When will I get around to watching any of these movies? No clue.
