I am a junior in college, so I have some experiences I would like to share with the rest of you. I am a full-time student, and I am fully aware of the results from so much stress. At the end of the week, you feel so drained. You can finish all your homework and you still have upcoming projects. It feels like it never ends. So with this in mind, let me share what I have learned.
Partying is not the answer. Okay, partying is not ALWAYS the answer. I can’t tell you that I sit home on my weekends because I love wild nights. I am in my twenties, I get the whole “let’s get lit” thing. I always felt like I had to party to have fun. While it is fun, I could do so many other things and be more productive. I waste the whole next morning being lazy because I stayed up way too late.
When you have priorities like school and such, missing a party is not going to kill your social reputation. If you have been to a few parties, they all are the same. Different day, same drunk dude doing a keg stand. I thought I would share this because I was the girl that wanted to party all the time, and I am still trying to change. I want to be someone with depth. Someone that is grounded and knows something other than a good time.
Don’t let your moments slip away. This is college and you should have fun, but don’t let it revolve around drinking and parties. Partying is fun, and it’s good once in a while. Do things that you will remember doing. Find hobbies, go to school events, join a club. From personal experience, I regret being the party girl.
Not that I will ever not party again, but I am staying within my limits. I want to be someone of substance and make the best experience possible in college. So, my advice is this: find yourself in college and things that will make you a better person. College isn't all about the keg stands.
