Dear Future Husband

I am praying for you daily and bettering myself just so one day I am good enough for you. If you only get one thing out of this letter, just know I love you now and will love you unconditionally forever. Thank you for being the man of my dreams!!

Dear Future Husband,

I’ve been dreaming of my wedding day as long as I could remember. To be honest, if you were to look at my Pinterest board right now, you’d see everything I’d want. All I'm missing is a key component. A boyfriend (Let's face it, I think it would be frowned upon if I married my dog).

I was talking about you last night. I said, "God help my future husband, I'm such a handful." And as much as that is true, there will also be times when I am not easy to get along with or even easy to understand. There will be times you question what I am thinking and even more times you will question why you chose me. I apologize in advance. But I want to go more in depth and I want you to know what I want out of our marriage.

I only ask one thing, stay. I will not always be perfect but stay with me. Sometimes my imperfections will get in the way and life will get gets rough for us, but please stay with me.
I want to only get married once. When I marry you, there will be no such thing as a divorce.

There are a few things I want you to know about me, in case you don't know them already.

  1. I love food. If I'm mad at you, food is always the answer. Ask my mom, she knows. I'll also possibly eat more that you too, but hey that's okay!
  2. I have anxiety and depression, so be ready to comfort me and calm me down and just be there for me whenever I need someone. I hate asking for anyone for anything, but in the chance, I ask, please be there and don't judge me for it.
  3. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to travel and hope you do too because we’re going to be doing a lot of it. Ever since I was born, the military has always had me moving to somewhere new; Texas, North Carolina, Colorado, Japan, and of course, Ohio. Car Trips are by far my favorite so I hope you're ready to be able to say you've been and explored every state in the U.S. {Bucket List item for me!}
  4. We should never go to bed mad at each other. I don't know the actual statistic on that, but I know people do it, and I just never want to go to bed angry.
  5. I really hope you can cook….because I suck at it. I’d love it if you could teach me and then make it a normal thing to cook together. I'd find that so cute.
  6. Thanksgiving and Christmas. Can we please do that thing where we switch families every other holiday, AND allow both of our families to be invited to the other families events even if they're not who were spending that holiday with. Family time is super important to me.
  7. I hope that before we actually get married, we're living together in our own apartment, just because I want to be able to really know this will work. I've read that living together is a huge step and if we can get through that we'll be able to take the even bigger step of getting married!
  8. I want pets, preferably a couple dogs. I really want to be a “puppy mom” and I’d hope that after dating for a little while, we will have already decided on getting a dog together.
  9. If our pets work out, I also want kids! I’m thinking two, but I wouldn't mind a big family. I come from a big family and I know regardless of how many children we have, they’ll have so much love and that makes me so happy because they deserve that.
  10. I love taking pictures, so I hope you enjoy always being in them. I take pictures of things that make me the happiest and things I never want to lose. Cheesy, I know but smile always, honey!

You’ll never actually get to meet my father...well fathers, as they both have left me, only to come back just when I seem to be making something of myself. I have never been interested in them though so all you've got to worry about is my momma. I know you will be the man my momma hopes you are because her opinion means the world to me.

I hope you ask her for my hand in marriage and that when you do, there will be no doubt in her mind that you are the right man. I hope you get along with my sisters because they're approval will definitely be important to me as well. For years, my sister Ali has been my protector against everything wrong in this world. For her to put all her trust in you will be difficult, but it is something that will need to happen.

For my sake, build a great relationship with my sisters and momma so none of you are threatened by my relationship with the others. (I struggle with this a lot when it comes to my mom and her fiancé, so please do that for me.)

I know our relationship will not always be perfect, but I hope you will fight for me. Fight for me always, I can assure you, I’ll always be fighting for you. Be my Nathan Scott in this messed up world, save me from the hurt and pain I will encounter in the future. Be the one I want to run to when things go wrong, and know that I will always be there for you when things go wrong.

I dream that I am enough. I have struggled with never feeling enough and I just hope that I am for you. I hope to make you a kind of happy you didn’t know before you met me and that it makes you never want to remember what life was like without me. I promise you, that will be the kind of happy I’ll be. I hope that you look at me every day and remember why you married me. That every day I remain the woman you fell in love with.

You will be the kind of person that enjoys the simple things in life, like late night drives and early morning coffee. You will be the kind of man that shows me off to your friends and family. I love that. I want you to be proud, happy, and excited that I’m in your life, as I will be the same with you in my life. You will believe in me on the days I cannot believe in myself and you will love me in the times I cannot love myself.

I promise to make you smile after a long day at work, always, just as I'm sure you’d do for me.
I promise to be your best friend in your times of need.
I promise to love you through the good times and the bad.
I promise to see your flaws and still view you as the perfect man.

I hope we have romance, but I also hope there will be days we can just chill at home and have a few beers. Our nights alone will be better than our nights out. You will be my best friend, my partner in crime, my husband, and my forever. This may seem like many expectations but I have no doubt you will fulfill every one of them.

I am praying for you daily and bettering myself just so one day I am good enough for you. If you only get one thing out of this letter, just know I love you now and will love you unconditionally forever. Thank you for being the man of my dreams!!

Love,

Your Future Wife,

Britt

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
