Summer brings a great deal of joy. Sunshine, family, hometown friends, adventures, laughter, a break from tons of schoolwork, and opportunities to create plenty of new moments are just a few things attributing to our overload of happiness. For many of us, getting to race back home and see the friends and family we’ve spent most of our lives with is beyond fun. However, they are not the only people who give us a good chuckle though.
If you’re reading this and you’re anything like me, you kind of put yourself out there to be picked on. You don’t always mean to, but sometime your personality just entails that. It’s in your blood to be goofy. Whether it be an obsession with a boy band, the overt desire of cats, or something absolutely out of the ordinary, you rock it to the max.
That’s just who I am. And getting picked on doesn’t seem fun, I get it. There comes a time and a place for it. It just happens that the time and place for me is all the time.
And the culprit of the jokes always seem to be my friends’ parents; their dad’s especially.
It’s actually quite enjoyable. I know, you’re calling me crazy right now but it’s the truth. It’s weird to admit but the jokes don’t really hurt. I mean, yes, I do enjoy rocking the boy repellant I seem to have had these past few years surrounding me. You get used to it.
And when I say boy repellant, I’m talking about all the things I do and say that just so happen to scare boys away from liking me. I know I don't have that but it's still a fun joke. It's believable. I am an odd ball. What can I say? You gotta represent the weirdness sometimes. Embrace it.
I’m writing this in terms of praising the start of summer and speaking to you, dear pal.
You did accidentally call us 'friends' last week, although we all know that was no accident. I mean, we are Facebook friends after all. This awesome friendship is meant to blossom.
Thank you for putting up with my shenanigans and allowing me to step into your home, even though we don’t like the same baseball teams. Even though I take up a good chunk of your driveway with my car, I appreciate the times you let me stay for dinner with the family.
So this one is for you, because I’d like to take this time to acknowledge the one quote I’ve been told over and over again when you mess with me.
“They only pick on you if they care.”
Thank you for caring. I know you only do it out of love. Good try hiding it though.
See you soon.
The boy repellant, One Direction cups, cat videos, lame puns, and times I park in your spot in the driveway are back, and they’re about to increase. Be ready.
I just have two words for y’all this summer. Game on.
