I just completed my first semester of college. Wow. College. Who would've thought I would make it this far. I talked about wanting to go to college since Kindergarten but I guess I was picturing it way differently.

I can definitely say these past 4 months were not what I expected. There were times where I was stressed to the max and there were times where I literally had nothing to do.

After completing my first week, I realized how different it is from high school. The teachers, the students, and the atmosphere had a completely different vibe. I'm not a shy person so talking to new people wasn't an issue, even if they were different than the usual people I talk to. That was actually one of the things that fascinated me, students came from different towns, states, and countries; and here they were sitting in a small classroom learning the same things as me.

I made many new friends and got closer with old ones from high school. My friend from high school actually introduced me to someone who I grew so close with in this short amount of time. We had every class together so that definitely was a factor in our friendship. However, we shared many memories outside of the classrooms and books, we realized how similar our lives were and because of that, we became extremely close. I'm forever grateful for us meeting.

The amount of work I had varied all the time. One day I could come home and completely relax for hours and just go straight to sleep, and then the next two days I could find myself barely sleeping with my eyes glued to my work. The classwork in most of my classes were things I never did in high school. I definitely did way more presentations this semester than I have in a full year of high school. I actually enjoyed some of them.

My first college party was a strange experience. I went out with a few friends in search of a good time, and we ended up traveling to four different parties in one night only to leave and get food. It was just a bad night for partying I guess because we couldn't find a good one. After a couple other nights out, I eventually did end up having a really good time and meeting more people.

Commuting to school wasn't really a huge challenge most of the time. For the first few weeks, I would always have to take the bus after class and go to work which was pretty annoying but I got used to it. Throughout the semester, I was able to get rides from friends which made the commute way easier.

While I'm glad my first semester is over, I'm excited for the next one and the new challenges to come!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
