Everyone has that classic first kiss story, whether it’s from the terribly awkward and uncomfortable middle school days or a cute high school sweetheart moment. Here are 12 stories that have been collected from people willing to share their stories allowing us to cringe, laugh, reminisce on innocent times, and reflect on our own stories as well.
1. “OK, so, I drove my friend home one night after bible study and she was crying because her friends got in a fight and then I asked her if I could kiss her and she said 'Um, well, my lips are kind of chapped...'"
2. “My first kiss was a make out and I was so pissed that he took both my first kiss and my first make out that I went home and cried.”
3. “In eighth grade, I was volunteering in the back of this inflatable obstacle course at this one festival and a girl came through a couple of times and called me cute. She came through one more time and we kissed and never saw each other again.”
4. “He was my best friend for seven months and we finally started dating. The first time we hung out he couldn't kiss me because I was his first kiss. And finally Thursday, Feb 20, 2014 he was laying on my couch with me while watching a movie and touched my face with the tip of his nose like four times, then pecked me and pulled back and said 'I did it!' and it was during the streaking scene in Old School.”
5. “Someone paid me 20 dollars to kiss this boy in seventh grade and I did and then everyone called me a prostitute. I went home and Googled what it was because I didn't know... Then I cried.”

7. “I dated a boy for a year in middle school, and it took him about six months or so to actually kiss me. We went on a date one night to a movie, and my dad had come to pick me up. When we got outside, the boy gave me a hug and then planted one on me—my dad was sitting in his car about 20 feet away and saw the whole thing! My dad didn't say anything to me when I got in the car, but I was mortified that he saw it, and we drove home in silence.”
8. “The first time I ever tried to kiss a girl, we were dating and saying goodbye before she went home. I leaned in to kiss her but she ducked because apparently 'Your driveway can't be where you have your first kiss.'”
9. “We had been 'dating' for about two months now and the tensions were running high, wondering when he was going to try to kiss me. It was my birthday, and he came over to give me a gift and to have cake. He seemed super nervous for some reason and it was nice outside, so I figured, 'What would make this not so awkward?' Oh yeah, jumping on the trampoline. We get on it and start to jump for a while and he walks (or awkwardly jumps) toward me and grabs my face and kisses me. Mid-kiss we fell down because I was in the middle of jumping and we fell onto each other. Not even joking. But all this awkwardness must have worked, because our four year anniversary is this May!”
10. “I was leaving for Spain like two days before New Year’s. I called her at, like, 8 a.m., drove 20 minutes, told her to come outside, kissed her, said Happy New Year, got in my car, and drove to the airport.”
11. “One day in high school I was making out with my then boyfriend in the dance team locker room and then all of a sudden he said 'Oh my god.' And I was like thinking 'oh wow, I must be a really good kisser,' but then I stopped and saw he had gotten a MAJOR nosebleed and it was all over me! I was also wearing a white dress and had to find new clothes because I had to go back to class.”
12. “So it was my birthday, the summer before eighth grade, and so my girlfriend and I went to a dinner and play thing, all dressed up and looking dapper. So then my mom picked us up from the play and we started to drive home. And all of a sudden I got a text from her saying that she wanted to give me a birthday present, and I was like, what? And she said she wanted to kiss me so we got to her house to drop her off and we walked behind my mom's car and we kissed.”
Well, we certainly can’t redo our first kiss, but it's one story some of us will never forget. Here’s to less awkward and embarrassing second, third, and final kisses.
