Tomi Lahren Doesn't Speak For All Women

I am a proud America-loving, law-abiding citizen who will more than likely never vote republican.

Tomi Lahren is a 23-year-old, fresh-out-of-college TV host that grew up in a military family. Her rants and political opinions often take the Internet by storm, and while I admire the confidence and the “I don’t give a flying you know what” attitude she wears, I have a problem with the picture she is painting of me, my family and my beliefs.

In her video “The Real State of Women,” Tomi attempts to talk about her opinion of the issues of women's equality in America. While doing so, she not only dismisses the pay gap, but refers to the issues as “mystical women’s issues” as if they are not real and us liberals just need something to bitch about.

Tomi, you managed to score your own TV show right out of college. Please, please do not try to act like you are part of the working force of women. You are a TV show host who will get to wear expensive dresses the rest of your life, so take a seat on that issue.

You praise young women who are conservative who want to fight for change and economic growth, but yet you slander young women who identify as liberals by calling them “liberal whiners” who are working towards equal pay, rights and a better environment.

I don’t see how that makes sense. You want everyone to be empowered and stand for what they believe in, unless they are a liberal because then they are just whiney, bitching and lazy, right?

And the “over paid Hollywood attendees at the Whitehouse” who were speaking about women’s issues like birth control, abortion access, the pay gap and many other issues America faces, were there speaking on behalf of those who are not on a platform to do so, just like you so proudly do for the conservatives in the country.

Access to birth control is a real issue for many women out there. Any basic knowledge of the medication would also lead you to the conclusion that it’s actually helpful with a number of medical issues and is not just for preventing pregnancy. I was lucky enough to be able to afford birth control when I was in high school, and still am now, and you know why? Because my period is so painful and so excruciating to me I was getting sick from it, and was missing school and other opportunities I worked so hard to get.

You are proud to be a “red, white and blue-loving conservative” and that is fine and dandy, but you do not get to paint the other side as anything less. You do not get to portray me, my family and millions of other families out there as lazy whiners just because we call ourselves liberals. I am a proud America-loving, law-abiding citizen who will more than likely never vote Republican. I am a proud feminist who will always stand up for equal rights for women.

Those are my final thoughts for Tomi Lahren, may God bless her, and may God bless America and every single person in it, no matter who you vote for.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
