He took the stage, waving and smiling in the way he does. He took time to take it all in. The reality may have sunk in for many, but it still is hard to grasp looking back at the doubters. But here we are, and Donald J. Trump is our country's President. And he decided to make a stop back in our country's genesis of political elections, Iowa. His feet have been held to fire between the Russian collusion investigation, his decision to drop out of the Paris Accord, and his ongoing debate on health care legislation. So I was curious what his response was going to be and I wanted to get the chance to hear it in person.

After a few representatives and Laura Trump gave hopeful, inspired thoughts regarding the future of the country, President Trump finally walked through the Curtain to roughly 9,000 screaming, cheering supporters. "Pushing, pushing for Obama Care which has now failed," the President voiced near the beginning of his speech."I was just told by your great governor and ex-governor, that your insurance companies have fled." The statement here was in response to large booing on the previous sentence bringing up acts of the past administration. He also took a moment to wish the injured from the Alexandria shooting the best in recovery. It was here when a few protesters selected to begin blowing whistles and shouting inaudible phrases. The crowd reacted as expected and President Trump waved them off, dismissing what had just taken place.

Finally, towards the end President Trump called for unity within Congress; "So they should come together, I don't think they will." He took a few moments to thank his faithful supporters and thanked those he works with. He talked about all of the negative press he's been receiving. He even specifically called out CNN and made a joke as the CNN cameraman turned off his camera as everyone turned to notice the lights switch off. He did not address the Russian allegations, but kept his message on positive points exclaiming all that he and his cabinet had been attempting to get done and had gotten done since Inauguration day.

All in all, President Trump was in good spirits and seemingly had left all of his supporters present here in the same mood. The people not in a good mood? The 200+ protesters across the street visibly angry. "I think Donald Trump is really corrupt and a terrible leader for this country," replied a protester when I asked her about why she wanted to protest President Trump. "I really honestly just think that's he admitted to having ties to Russia." When I proceeded to question her on any middle-ground she might have, her response was: "I think term limits would be good. Ya know, I don't know. I think it would better if he would just stay out of things. He really doesn't seem to understand."

"Why hope a president fails when he's the president of the whole country?" A Trump supporter replied when I asked him about how he'd respond to the opposition. "I wasn't an Obama fan when he took office, but I wanted him to succeed." He told me he believes President Trump is bringing back jobs to America. "I think we need to get regulations away from small business also, like putting back manufacturing to work in the US to bring the jobs back."

Overall, seeing the current sitting President was a rush of excitement as well as caution about what the future could bring. Seeing several perspectives is vital and I hope both sides listen to why each other believes what they do. I wish President Trump the best and hope he keeps America's best interests in mind going forward.
