As of May 17th, 2017, I met my favorite band, Pierce The Veil at Hampton Beach. You might be asking how, I am here to tell you, that yes, I did buy a meet and greet package. You might ask was it worth spending a lot of money and I say to that yes it was overpriced, but well worth it. While, I was lucky enough to snag this meet and greet package including the ticket, I do however have to thank my parents fully for this as it was a birthday present. First off, I want to say, yes it seems as though I am bragging, but fear not I am not here to do that nor do I want to come across that way. I am simply here to provide details to people who are fans wondering if their nice, how it works or even fans who never been to a concert and how they are live.
First off let’s start at how the meet and greet was and how it actually worked. For those of you who don’t know, when you go to meet and greets, you in fact get everything in the package at the venue nothing is ever sent to you. Secondly, obviously you get to meet the band or bands listed when you read the description on whatever website you bought it from. Lastly, yes you really do wait a very long time in a long line to meet them, unless of course you are the first few people. How the actual event works is, once you've ordered your tickets, you will get a confirmation email, in that email they will tell you, how many days in advance you will get another email with full disclosed information of what’s going on. With this initial email, it will also confirm what you just bought. Once you get this email with all details, plan accordingly those few days ahead. I suggest plan what you’re wearing, what you are brining if anything at all etc. Be sure to have everything it says such as proper ID’s, any emails needed, money or anything you’d like to bring. While the day of the show double check you have everything before going, once you are ready then leave. A pro tip is to always be on time or at least 5-10min early, better safe than sorry. Once their, theirs a box office, where you need to go to in order to retrieve your things and they will tell you where to go. Once you are their all you do is wait until a venue staff member comes out asking all VIP people to get in a single line. They will direct you where to go and frankly it take a while. Not the actual forming of the line, it takes a long time for them to let you in. But after that, it’s show time and from their is when you get to meet them when it is your respected time. After that, you are free to do what you want until the show starts. Depending on the venue, some make you leave until the let in time, others let you stay until it starts, it’s whatever venues policies are. Make sure to follows the rules of the venue, it makes things smoother I promise, then if you follow rules, theirs no need to miss the bands either. But, if you choose to stay the whole time in the venue, I promise you will get within the first few rows, if it’s general admission considering you are their before general admission. With that you get better views, not to mention more interaction with the bands, heck ya!
But first I’ll give some tips, while in line, be friendly, talk to people around you especially when in line alone. If you are with a friend, stick with them if possible, if you are with a friend it is ok to just talk to your friend or friends, no one is forcing you to talk to others. But if you are in a line alone, talking to others in front and behind you makes the time seem shorter. If you do end up getting a meet and greet, it is best to plan what to say to the band, weather you want to thank them, just say hi etc. It is also a good idea to also plan ahead if you are deciding to give them a gift. Don’t do it last minute, plan accordingly, specifically I suggest smaller things as they have a lot to carry around from show to show. Another tip, is to plan a pose out, while you don’t really have to, but if you want to have a pose, plan what you’d like and ask if it’s ok with the band. A final pro tip is be aware of what you are saying, how you're saying it and all that jazz, it’s actually important I promise. This is due to triggers etc, if you are a fan, most of the time we know the bands past and their trigggers. So if you plan on telling them something personal like a thank you for helping you, be aware of how you say it. Another option if you choose not to say it, is writing a letter and giving it to one of the band members saying it’s a letter for the whole band.
Now that is out of the way, I will in fact share my portion of the story, as promised and possibly anticipated I’m not sure. But if you’re wondering how Pierce The Veil is this is the section for you. First off, I’d like to say these are all personal preferences and opinions other than my own. Secondly I’d like to disclose, please don’t read if you aren’t interested, just here to hate or anything of that nature. I am only here to tell a story, that I am in fact very happy about and proud of. But lastly if you decide to stay and read, I do hope you enjoy this mini or long story I am about to tell.
As assuming, you are hear because you saw the title or at least the Pierce The Veil bit of it and was intrigued and for that I do applaud you and thank you very much for deciding to read my story of sorts. But for starters I was very nervous and I for sure thought I was going to pass out or embarrass myself. But I calmed down after talking to a few girls behind me, which for the record we're friends now. But I planned what to say and went in their and forgot what I was going to say. But I pulled it together and didn't make a fool of myself luckily. The experience was truly amazing to say the least. I was honestly so terrified they would be rude, horrible and mean, that they would just brush me off and have me move along like some would. But nope, not these boys, they were the some of if not the sweetest people I have ever met in my life.
They took the time to get to know you, once I got in I said hi and I was so happy to meet them. Immediately they perked up and we're all happy saying thank you to them. I was so happy just to be their in their presence since they mean the whole entire world to me. I said thank you to them for being my inspirations and heroes and I was so happy to be their. I told them they meant the world to me and they helped me through my dark times and I stopped self harming because of them. They were so kind and appreciative of it, they thanked me and hugged me. I was truly in my glory. I had an amazing time, they even asked my name and got to semi know me. It was even Jaime, the bass player, Birthday so I wished a good birthday and he thanked me. Vic, the lead singer, even complimenting me saying he loved my hair color saying it was gorgeous and thought it was beautiful. They all complimented my makeup as well, truly it was so magical. They took the kindness of their heart to be so nice and humble and took the extra time out of their day to just be nice, humble, appreciative, sweet amazing guys.
Overall it was the best experience with a band other than meeting Tonight Alive and Set It Off. I loved every second of it and it was the best day of my life. To me it was a better experience than graduating high school. It was such an amazing feeling I loved it so much. It was a feeling like no other and I couldn't believe I got to meet them after 9 years of listening to them.
