My Cousin, My Best Friend
Nicole Dzwonkowski

First off, thank you for being one of my big supporters. It's crazy to think that when we were little I wanted to do everything you did. (Most of the time, I ended up getting in trouble). Remember the doll house? Thanks for laughing at me for that too. Thank you for being my BEST FRIEND. The one I can text about absolutely anything, and I literally mean anything. I'd be lost without you as my older cousin, to teach me life lessons that maybe no one else can. You've experienced most things that I haven't yet, and I know when I do and I get scared or something goes wrong, I can call you and you'll be right there for me. Or if I call you just to fill you in on things.

Words can't really explain how thankful I am to have you as my cousin. Although there was a little point where we distant, probably because you went off to college and I was still in high school. But ever since you've graduated, we've become closer again. You're the best "big sister" any girl could ask for. Thank you for being my role model. Thank you for putting up with my sassiness, I know you love me even more in those moments. For teaching me that some people aren't as important as I thought they actually were. Letting me know that boy was no good for me and I could do better. All the little things - playing Castle Panic with Shari & Giselle (they're practically my older sisters as well), wanting to know every little detail about things that went on. You guys somehow always manage to get it out of me.

(That's literally you and Shari towards me)

At the end of the day, I realize that you're my person. And you always will be. I can count on you to tell me that "everything will be okay". Thank you for showing me good songs; whether they're old or new - having singing sessions with you and watch you make a fool out of yourself. (I guess that's where I get it from). But to say the least, we all know I'm the better dancer.

You're my friend for life and that's why we are cousins. I can't believe all you've accomplished so far and I'm so proud to say you're my older cousin. You're my go-to girl when I'm having a rough day, my right hand. I even recently asked you a question about school and you found someone to see if I did it right, (even though they messed up the first time). You know how to make me laugh - but you also know when to piss me off. I'm so happy we're family and we're stuck with each other. I love you more than anything Cassie, and I'm happy that we're able to be close with each other and talk to each other about anything. I'll always be a mini you! No matter how old I get.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
