My Best Friends At Lawrence Have Made Me A Better Person

Have you ever had that feeling if you hadn't met your best friends, you'd be far different than you are now? Yeah, so have I.

There are several good reasons as to why I am who I am, but the nice thing is, is that I always have people to support me: my family and my friends. Hmm, scratch that: my family and my best friends. Here at Lawrence, I have made a big group of friends, which is quite odd for me because in the past I didn’t really talk with people, and I have made a couple of really good friends — best friends.

They are both always there to support me, just as I am there for them. My best friends are always there when I need them and I am there when they need me. They have seen me at my brightest times, which has been pretty often this year, and they have seen me at my darkest times — and if that hasn’t scared them off, I think I have found my best friend soulmates.

They are honestly my siblings. We know too much about each other to be friends. They remind me so much of my family, it makes me feel like I am at home, even being so far away from my real family. I have seen them bursting with happiness and I have seen them when they have the squiggles over their head (like in "Animal Crossing") when they are feeling down. We do some pretty crazy stuff together, which has probably been the highlight of our time spent together, but it is never anything bad. Our normal activities together consisted of eating meals in the commons together, going to practice together and then making fun of each other, and sometimes even doing homework together.

Now, our weird activities together consisted of playing with a Ouija Board, pulling pranks (if you could call them pranks) on other people, screaming and running around on campus, and attempting to set each other up with other people. We are a pretty crazy group and I could probably say that I am glad that I am at Lawrence because I have been given the opportunity to meet these two blessed souls.

I hope you guys are forever happy and only the best things come to you. No matter what, remember that you are fabulous and that the booty comes from running track. Don’t let the haters burst the bubble we have put around us because we can make our own decisions. Stay happy and don’t procrastinate on your homework. Ever.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
