A Letter To My Best Friend

And That's When I Knew I Would Have A Forever Friend

A Letter To My Best Friend
Graci Lovett

I can’t believe you’ve put up with me for this long. We’ve had so many memories together, and I would never trade them for the world.

You’re probably wondering why I’m writing this and I’m fixing to tell you.

You don’t get noticed enough from me. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever thanked you for always being there for me--cliche as it may sound. There hasn’t been a time where I couldn’t come to you with whatever my situation is. I could always pick up the phone to call or text you, you would always answer. Whether it may be minutes, hours, seconds or sometimes if you’re busy enough, days. I thank you for that.

There’s so much I must thank you for, I would be here the rest of my life if I named all of it. Here are just a few out of many.

I appreciate all the times you made me laugh when I couldn’t even smile, and all the times you turned my frown into a laugh. I appreciate the positive influence you have given me over the years. I appreciate the moments where you would help me through the tough family times, I would deal with. I appreciate your wise decisions you would make, when I could never make it myself. I appreciate you and your courageous heart. Most importantly, I appreciate you for never giving up and leaving my side.

Now, I want you to know that you’re beautiful on the inside and the out, I know you’re very insecure and you feel like you need a guy to remind you about how beautiful you are, but like I’ve told you since day one God thinks you’re beautiful.

You may feel as if you’ll never find that “perfect guy” but I’m going to be honest with you, you never will find the “perfect” guy because they don’t exist. One day, you’ll find a guy who pursues you and I hope he pursues Jesus too. That’s the right guy, not a perfect one.

Like we’ve always said, “perfect” doesn’t exist.

God has big plans for you and you and I both know that.

Your high school heart breaks won’t matter later on down the road. Please keep in mind your worth, and nothing less than that. Also keep in mind that you don’t ever need anyone to underestimate you.

I’ve had the greatest blessing of all and that was to grow up with you. Although we are only in high school, I know from the bottom of my heart that we will be lifetime best friends. I’ve never met anyone as bold and beautiful, as you are. I know times get hard in our lives, but at the end of the day I know I’ll always have you.

I cannot fathom my life without you!

Our friendship has been one of the strongest and I hope you hold your head high and do big things in the future. I hope college treats you well and I hope to be by your side through it all.

To this day, I’m forever thankful for our friendship and the memories we share.

“I know I can count on you like 4, 3, 2 and you’ll be there...”

Love always,

Your best friend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
