8 Reasons My Aunt is the Best
Jacki Hinke

I hope everyone gets the chance to have an aunt as amazing as mine. If you don't you're really missing out! So here is a couple reasons why I think I have the best aunt in the world.

1. She understands everything I'm going through at any moment in my life

She is always there to support me through everything. There has never been a time in my life where I couldn't look for my aunt for advice. She's always been there when I needed her.

2. She has made it a point to be at every major life event I've ever had, and she cheers me on.

She is one of my only constants. I can't remember a time when my aunt wasn't there to support me. There are not many people that I can remember who have always been in my life, but she is one of them.

3. She knows so much about me.

She knows what I like to eat, how I like to wear my hair, and so many other small details about me that most people would look over.

4. She constantly reminds me how proud of me she is.

Whether it's getting a good grade on a test or playing a high school sport my aunt is always there to remind me of my worth. It's so very rare to find someone who is as genuine as my aunt.

5. She always tells me what I need to hear whether I like it or not.

No matter what it is she will tell me how she feels about any situation. But she does it in the most gentle way possible because she is so kind and never wants to see anyone down.

6. She just randomly calls

She doesn't need a reason to talk to me, she just does. That's something that I love about her.

7. She's one of the many people I'm very proud to say I'm related to.

Because she is so beautiful on the inside and out. Even if I wasn't related to her she would be someone I would want to look up to.

8. She is so genuine to every person she meets.

No matter who you are my aunt will always be willing to help. She has the most kind heart and I know she would do anything for me or anyone she knows in a heartbeat.

I wish I could put it into more words how much my aunt means to me but there truly isn't enough. I hope that one day I can be half the person my auntie is because she is amazing.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
