Wow... The summer of 2016 is coming to an end, and the first day of classes is right around the corner.
If you're a freshman (and anything like how I was two short years ago) you are unbelievably scared out of your mind for what the future has in store for you.
Some of you may be scared that your roommate will turn into a complete whack-job in the upcoming semester and others are worried that their perfect 4.0 G.P.A in high school may not hold to those high of standards after fall semester comes to an end.
I can't exactly help you with the roommate situation (you may just have to sleep with one eye open and keep your valuables hidden) but I can give you some advice that I wish someone would have shared with me when I first started college.
1. Get involved.
You should have already attended Mean Green Fling but if not, there are plenty of other ways in learning what clubs UNT has to offer, like visiting orgsync. I literally cannot express to you enough how important it is to join as many clubs as possible. Not only will you meet some really great people, but it will also make your transition into college a lot smoother.
2. Open yourself to new opportunities.
We have all been told that college is about experiencing a newly bound freedom. College is supposed to be fun and you are suppose to search for the person you truly are. It may not be easy (especially if you are an introvert like me) but trust me when I say that the more open you are to new opportunities, the happier you will be. Instead of laying in bed on a Friday night watching Netflix in your dorm room alone, get out of bed and go to a UNT football game (Even if sports aren't necessarily your interest.)
3. Finally, take advantage of free stuff
If you don't take my advice on the bullet points listed above, you should AT LEAST listen to me on this one. Being a college student, you have so many different perks. I'd like to think of it as society's way of showing their sympathy for the amount of stress we are constantly under. But hey, I'm not complaining. From student discounts on Microsoft Office, to discounted movie tickets on Thursday nights, you have it all! Click here for a detailed list of student discounts at your fingertips. (You're welcome)
Now, it's time to relax and get ready for an amazing journey!
