Ladies, it is that time of year again. Time to trudge through the dog days of summer and gear up for fall!
Returning to school means new people, new classes, and a new look. Maybe you are looking to completely redo your college wardrobe, or perhaps you are just doing a little Back to School online shopping. Whatever it may be, here is your comprehensive list of must-have fall items. Happy shopping!
As much as we love our summer sundresses, soon it will be time to pack those away until next year. Find some stylish, comfortable dresses that you can either dress up for social gatherings or dress down for class. Nothing impresses your friends or that cute boy in lecture like a simple but elegant, eye-catching dress. The secret: it is easy to slip on and go, but it appears as though you’re actually trying.
2. Brightly colored tops and sweaters
As a lover of all things navy, brown, and black, it is quite difficult for me stray from dark, neutral colors. Nevertheless, a little splash of color can go a long way in bringing together an outfit. Pair a bright purple sweater with a pair of jeans and boots, and the compliments will be flying. Speaking of boots…
3. Riding boots
Sometimes I wish that I could acceptably wear boots year round. Although Frye boots are the most durable and are supposed to last up to fifteen years if treated properly, there are plenty of inexpensive boot options. Boots always look fashionable over leggings, jeans, or paired with a flowy skirt, which means you can get away with wearing them almost 100 days in a row (which I may or may not have done last year).
4. Leggings
You’ll wear them to sleep, to class, to parties, to the gym, around your apartment, and maybe even on dates. You’ll wear them so often that you’ll have to remind yourself to take them off for an hour just to shower and put on a fresh pair. Trust me: you can never have too many pairs of leggings. Ever.
5. Comfy jeans
I’m a jeans girl. Although I will somehow find an excuse to wear them every season, we all know that fall is the best time of year to rock the blue jeans. Try pairing skinny jeans with some colored flats, and boot cut jeans with a short pair of cowboy boots. Throw on a colored top and a scarf, and you might as well be featured in Anthropologie’s fall catalog.
6. Jacket layers
One of the best ways to bring together an outfit is by adding layers. Vests, cardigans, and light jackets can complete your fall look. Don’t worry about matching; feel free to layer patterned cardigans over solid colored tops, and vice versa.
The accessories are the most important part! Chunky necklaces are fading out, and longer necklaces are becoming more popular. The closer to your belly button, the better.
8. Infinity scarves
As women, we know that these are not exactly designed for warmth. Although infinity scarves can function as a method of insulation, they are also classy and chic. Layer an infinity scarf over a long necklace, and you’ll look more put together than the professor. Unless he is wearing a bow tie.
