I have a lot I want to say, but at the same time I'm not sure what I can say

The Catholic Thing

So, I have a lot to say, I have a lot to tell you, I have so much I want to express. But at the same time, I have nothing to say. How am I to explain the actions not only the president, but this country is taking. How can I explain why you are being judged and persecuted simply for your skin color, the clothing you wear, the religious book you read, the way you pray. Sadly, I only have three words for you, I am sorry. I am sorry that this country is lumping you and your religion in with a group of people who have taken your faith and radicalized it. Who have turned the words of peace into a war cry and an excuse for bloodshed. I know that is not what you are about. I know you carry nothing but love in your heart. The superior being you pray to, the practices you follow, these are all things that should never come under scrutiny or be judged. In fact, the dedication I have seen from you for your religion is honestly beautiful. It is an experience I couldn’t be more thankful for you sharing your life style with me and letting me be a part of your life.

You are more than your religion and you are certainly more than that ridiculous category you have been thrown into. You are my family and my friend. You have seen me smile and laugh, as well as cry and mourn. You have been with me through my young years and continue to take this journey through life with me. Thank you for supporting me and loving me. Thank you for never doubting my love for you and continuing to be a positive light in my life. The amount of things I should thank you for are unfathomable and will continue to grow as our life goes on. And for that I am saddened. I am saddened because while I look at you as one of the most important people in my life, others will look at you under the eye of scrutiny and a heart filled with hate. And as hard as it may be, I ask you to not hate them back. They don’t know you. They don’t know how amazing you are, the family you are a part of and the memories your friends cherish of you. I ask you to be stronger now more than ever. And that is not easy, but you can do it. Especially because I will be here for you every single day.

This new administration sadly has put you in a bad light. Sadly, that means that others will use this as an opportunity to be able to hate outwardly. They will feel justified in their actions and their hate. Sadly, the ones who hate will seem to be the majority because they will want to make their intentions known. And sadly, those who wish to speak up may stay silent. But if I can promise you one thing in this world, I will not. I will never stop fighting for you. All of those in your life will never stop fighting for you. And even though many will be silent, many more will speak up for you. You are loved and cherished and we will not let hate consume your life. So, I guess I have more than three words for you, in fact I have five. I will fight for you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
