Musical Possibilities for The Jungle Movie

Hope for the upcoming reboot Hey Arnold (though unlikely)

I am a child of the 90s so, it goes without saying but, I am often staying up all night and watching Nickelodeon’s The Splat.

For those who may not know, The Splat is Nickelodeon’s ‘rewind program segment’ meaning that they are showing 90s shows such as All That and 90s cartoons like Hey Arnold!.

Speaking of Hey Arnold!, s eries creator, Craig Bartlett confirmed that The Jungle Movie will air on Nickelodeon in 2-parts in November 2017 . No matter how dim 2016 may have been, this bit of information is already making 2017 look bright. Bartlett's cartoon means a lot to us 90s kids, so much so that, some of us cannot stop gushing about it.

Ahem, but either way, The Jungle Movie is what we fans have been asking for since the original Hey Arnold! series came to an end.

I have always loved Hey Arnold! and, the fact that one of my favorite rappers, Eminem, is a fan of Hey Arnold! has only made me love the series more. In 2009, Eminem did an interview with a UK publication called The Sun and expressed that he very much enjoyed watching re-runs of the series with his daughter. The link to the article itself is down but, the article did very much exist from the people on a Hey Arnold! Fan forum having discussed it.

While this is very unlikely to happen, I would love it if Eminem would provide music to be featured in The Jungle Movie.

In his music, especially in his earlier albums, Eminem has sampled older rock songs. That was a newer thing do when his album, The Eminem Show debuted.

But, nowadays that choice of sampling older rock very much gives rap music, not just Eminem’s music, a ‘90s vibe’.

That vibe about the music is something that would fit in perfectly with The Jungle Movie. It’s a fresh and new take on the beloved series of Hey Arnold! and, Eminem’s music, even if it were to sound more like his Recovery and Marshall Mathers LP 2 albums than his earlier stuff, would mesh well with the movie and overall create a nostalgic masterpiece.

Going off of Eminem’s music in general, his music is powerful in that it has the ability to make anyone who has ever felt alone, not feel so lonely and hopeless. That very music sure helped me feel a lot less alone in this big world.

This is speculation on my part but, I think Arnold would very much be a fan of Eminem. I can picture the football-headed youngster putting on Em’s records, sitting and vibing after being called an orphan. Eminem’s lyrics would help Arnold feel less left out because he didn’t have his actual parents on ‘Parent’s Day’; this would especially be true with Em’s song, Sing For The Moment .

Moreover, Eminem’s song, Lose Yourself very much encompasses Arnold’s approach to everything he does and how he will always “seize the moment...and own it,” especially because second chances are not promised and the Hey Arnold! series never let us, the viewers, forget it.

Again, I doubt it’ll happen but, it would really be something if Eminem were to contribute music to The Jungle Movie. If not, maybe he can at least give us a freestyle and call it ‘Arnold Shortman’ (that is Arnold’s last name, confirmed by Craig Bartlett himself) and, that freestyle would be much better than that horrible ‘Timmy Turner’ song by Desiigner, the guy who mumbles his way through the song Panda.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
