Whether you're into pop, classic rock, EDM, R&B, or other various music genres, one thing is for certain-- every woman needs a little "girl power" playlist to strut to from time to time.

After carefully considering a variety of feminist playlists on Spotify, I have created a mix of what I believe are 10 of the the most empowering songs for a young woman. The songs are not only catchy, but have important, meaningful and empowering lyrics from start to finish!

1. "Salute"-- Little Mix

This song is an awesome song to strut to class to. Its lyrics are all about empowerment and female cooperation.

2. "Run the World"-- Beyonce

Queen B is pretty much the empress of empowering messages for girls! This song is awesome-- it suggests women are just as capable as men in many aspects of life. Its also incredibly catchy!

3. "Not Your Way"-- Misterwives

The lyrics in this song declare that women will no longer be complicit to unequal treatment in any sense. "This is my body, and you don't have a say!"

4. "Man! I feel like a Woman!"-- Shania Twain

Because girls just wanna have fun, right?

5. "I Am Not My Hair"-- India.Aire

The message of this song notes that it is OK to embrace your natural beauty and that women are so much more than their outward appearance.

6. "Independent Women"-- Destiny's Child

This song just screams "I am a strong, independent women who don't need no man!"

7. "I Don't Need A Man"-- The Pussycat Dolls

Very similar message to Independent Women-- Who needs a man to take care of them?

8. "How To Be A Heartbreaker"

This song is all about taking control of your own sexuality and being sexually empowered, which is typically a taboo for woman to do. It breaks the stereotype that woman are meek and submissive.

9. "Hard Out Here"-- Lily Allen

This song has been praised as a "feminist anthem" and, with its catchy tone and important lyrics, it's not hard to see why!

10. "Can't Hold Us Down"-- Christina Aguilera

Another song that declares women as independent beings who don't need to rely on a man!

Hopefully this playlist get you dancing!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
