Music Takes Me To Another World

Music can be expressed in a multitude of ways. Each and every musician is blessed with something no other artist has, whether it be their voice, style, attitude, or passion.

Many people connect to music in their own way, whether it brings back memories, emotions, or simply pleasure. In this generation, people are judged for preferring a certain type of music over another, but that’s how the world works right? Without criticism, adoration, support, and passion, there would be no such thing as competition or success.

Music speaks to me in a way it may or may not speak to others. I adore country music because of the fact that it’s almost like listening to someone tell a story. The amount of love, hate, and pain there is in country music makes my heart go in a full circle! Not many people in my community agree with me, but it doesn’t matter because either way I still love it.

There’s rap, hip-hop, pop, r&b, country, alternative, dubstep, jazz, I could go on and on. The reason all these musical genres are still alive is because they are still adored by many around the world!

When I listen to music, whatever genre it may be, it somehow takes me to another world. It’s soothing, exciting, heartbreaking, warming, and just simply beautiful! From Hollywood to Bollywood, music takes me to another world. I swear a single song on repeat can make me smile and then cry because music has that effect on me as well as many others I’m sure! Artists these days don’t seem to produce music to compete with one another, rather they produce to show the world what they are passionate about. These days there is music about everything, literally you name it and I’m sure there’s a song about that. The thing about music is that it’s not only the lyrics that make me feel a certain way, it’s the actual music itself. The instruments have a different role in each song, in each artist’s mind, in each person’s ears and heart. Personally, I feel that if the music is good, the song is good. If the music isn’t good but the lyrics are, I’ll appreciate the lyrics but won’t listen to song because I’m not into the sound of it overall. But that’s the beauty of it, just because one person doesn’t like it doesn’t mean no one else will, right?

Take a step back, listen to the song, understand the lyrics, hear the instruments and music, then see how you feel about the song.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
