Ever been in a situation where you didn't know what to say, but always had the song that can explain your mood? So many genres, so many different types of arts. You can only love it for what it is. From country to EDM, dubstep to hip-hop, rap, the blues jazz and everything in between; we, as a social animals, feed off of interaction. I don't ever remember a moment when music hasn't put me in the appropriate mood. I think, as of right now, my favorite moment in Hip-Hop is the "Beat Drop for Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1" off of Kanye West's new album The Life of Pablo. Music is all about expression, and sometimes expression is all we have when we can't formulate words. Some people will be able to speak easier when they're strumming an acoustic guitar. The best moments in life is when you're just listening to the music play from a speaker, probably connected through Bluetooth, and you're just hanging out with friends vibing to the rhythm. Music has that powerful force that just makes you bob your head to every beat, that face you make as if you just smelt something really nasty every time you hear an artist lay some real lyricism down; and nothing is better than getting chills from a song that is just so incredible, you can't help but let your mind be completely blown. You can feel music in your bones.
Truthfully, I don't think anything will ever beat Big Punisher's '98 Twinz Cover "Little Italy Bar". I wish Smells Like Teen Spirit played in the background of my life while I would just spend a night out on the NYC streets walking around SoHo. I think everyone wishes that theme music plays in the background of their lives like it does in the movies. Moods can go from good to bad in a matter of seconds but it only takes a good 30 seconds of Reggaeton to get me smiling again. Music is my way of expressing myself. I can remember all the nights I stood up creating the perfect playlist for every party. This is what I used to do. I used to write music, short stories and poetry. I feel like people should be able to express themselves no matter how they want. Music is universal, there are DJs and artists that produce full songs specifically for one person. Led Zeppelin's "Over The Hills and Far Away" was and still is one of my favorite love songs, it's so personal. Whether it's a painting, piece of writing, or if it's singing, people should be able to display their art according to how they feel, because mood is everything. Music is capable of setting the tone of your entire day, it can inspire you, move you and motivate you. Music provides us with the words we can't find.
