If there's one thing every person can relate to, it's music. In this age, music is constantly on the radio, Pandora, Spotify, and on our phones. Music is one of those things that can be enjoyed anywhere and anytime. I mean it's all around us! From this country to the next, music spreads like wildfire. Many musicians can get to be so well-known, that they are listened to worldwide and in various languages! But the one thing that music can really do, is change lives.
Artists play a big role in music now. With the skyrocketed use of social media, artists can connect with their fanbase and interact with the fans. Before social media, the only thing artists could do was hold concerts and do interviews to update their fans on new music, news, and what is going on in their lives. Now, all they have to do is send a tweet and that reaches everybody who has internet connection. It's that simple and that fast. Because of this, artists are more than ever connected to their fans on a personal level. They can get to know their fans ,and their fans can get to know them. This creates a family (a fandom) ,and that family is connected on a powerful level through music.
There's something magical about being at a concert. You are surrounded by thousands of people who share the same love for the artist as you. You can feel the heavy bass beating throughout your body, and the piercing screams of fans having the best time of their lives. If you look up during a slower song, you can see a sea of flashlights waving back and forth. It's absolutely breath-taking. Even though the concerts seem so short, it is one of the best things somebody can ever experience.
Music brings people together. It has an inexplicable power to create friendships from all over the world with social media. It's crazy to think that without liking the music I listen to, I would not have friends all over the United States, England, Portugal, Australia, and so many other places. I have met so many amazing people from all over the world, and it's all because we shared the same taste in music.
My favorite thing about music is that it has the power to change lives. For example, there is a stigma that One Direction fans are a huge group of crazy, screaming teenage girls. In reality, their fans are very diverse and are extremely dedicated to supporting the boys and each other. There are always jokes made about the fans being insane and obsessed, but they're really not. The fans see the boys as lifesavers because their music has given them the ability to get through both good and bad times in their lives. Why can a book change lives, but not a powerful song?
Music is strong. Music is powerful. It was at the start of our history, and it will continue on to the end of it. Music has changed the world, and will continue to change it for the better for a very, very long time.
