How Having Multiple Jobs Teaches You To Appreciate Free Time

Working multiple jobs teaches you how to master a busy schedule. College students usually have the whole “busy schedule” thing down (or at least they think they do), but that usually consists of pushing assignments aside until last minute, but unfortunately we can’t do that with work. Working at multiple jobs teaches you so many different work ethics and how to be successful in totally different job fields, but more importantly than all of that, it teaches you to appreciate your free time. You are no longer able to wake up whatever time you want and watch Netflix all day or troll twitter in your oversized t shirt, but you have to stick to a schedule and that means getting enough sleep to work two jobs as well.

As much planning that goes into your week, I know we all thoroughly enjoy the days that we don’t have any plans and we get to decide what and when we want to do things! But as far I know, food is a common love, free time is always a time for good food. Make yourself the grand breakfast that you haven’t had time for all week, or go out with a friend! Personally on my days off I’ll either be in my bed, or at a coffee shop getting in some quality coffee time or doodling on napkins.

When you think of tomorrow most of us immediately get stressed on how much stuff we have to do and working multiple jobs on the same day has definitely brought that out of me. But, on the other hand, my day off is appreciated so much more than just a day that I don’t have to go to class. It is a whole new freedom that you experience when you aren’t just “too busy” with activities but you are working multiple jobs or working so much that you see a whole new value in those spare few hours!

Take the time and spend it with your friends, but still take some time to be by yourself and appreciate that you actually have nothing to do. Yes, I know responsibilities don't just disappear on your day off, but we all know they don't disappear when we have to work either so take advantage of the few moments even if they are brief to thoroughly enjoy yourself and what you want to do. Even if that means a day trip, you finally get your own schedule to follow!

Go to a coffee shop and enjoy a cup of coffee with your friends or enjoy a danish at a bakery because you've worked your butt off all week for this! Since food is always relevant you could even take advantage of going to the store to get snacks to take to work. Embrace the day with food, friends, and relaxing because you now truly understand the new sense of freedom in an off day because of all your hard work.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
