Cheating can instigate sadness, frustration, excitement, embarrassment, and pride. Songs from the beginning have done an amazing job at depicting all these emotions the people doing the act and the people committing it get into contact with. Different emotions happen at different times of the event, but they are oftentimes very strong no matter what emotion they are.Songs have done a great job encompassing the many different events, emotions, and visual imagery involved with cheating.
In cheating, there are dialogues between people who share the same romantic partner. Check out this friendly duet between Usher and R.Kelly about finding out they have the same love interest.
R. Kelly and Usher - Same Girl (2007)
Dissing the person your partner is cheating on you with ( informally known as a 'side-hoe') happens as well. *Just remember to criticize your partner as well *
Monica- Sideline Ho (2007)
Of course, cheating instigates awkward and angry-filled dialogues between couples after one cheats on the other. Denial Denial Denial, is the name of the game for the person who just got caught no matter how stupid they look.
The Isley Brothers - Busted ft. J.S. (2003)
Things get even more heartbreaking and emotion-filled when you catch them doing the act. In your initial dialogue, you might get temporary therapy in such a traumatic time by bringing them down to your level and making them feel small and heavily humiliated.
The Isley Brothers - Contagious (2001)
But when cheating isn't the only thing the person being cheated on uncovers, that's too much of a compounded issue for me to analyze. lol.
R. Kelly - Trapped in the Closet (2005)
Why cheat?
There is the INDESCRIBABLE rush people may get from participating in the act itself and from being around the person's main lover. The pleasure can overpower your conscious unfortunately.
Xscape - My Little Secret (1997)
Not just pleasure, but the potential pleasure can easily overpower your consciousness as well. In this video, an extreme example is shown where J. Cole's obsession with a woman makes him kill her boyfriend.
J. Cole - Power Trip ft. Miguel (2013)
Usher - Confessions, Pt. II (2004)
But what about the feelings of those being cheated on? Those count most! Being cheated on causes a whole spectrum of emotions as never endingly shown by the mother of turbulent relationships, Taylor Swift. Poor woman.
This song is about her break up with Harry Styles and how crazy it made her feel. She was not cheated on by Styles, but he was said to be very unfaithful. Imagine how she would have felt if he actually did cheat.
Taylor Swift - Knew You Were Trouble (2012)
And of course, breaking up causes anger. Anger is a necessary part of the recovery process. As long as you keep these fantasies of revenge in your head, anger should be initially welcomed as something, natural, temporary and healthy.
Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats (2006)
Cheating causes loneliness on both sides (many times equally). Yet, sometimes neither side fully realizes the other side feels the same way, so they do not get back together. Also, one or both of them might believe that it is better to long for each other than get back with each other. This can be a tough decision to make.
Akon- Lonely (2005)
But necessary because you don't want an Ashanti Situation to occur :(
Ashanti - Foolish (2001)
Overall, finding the priceless joy of freedom after being in a damaging relationship is one of the most important things. You think that you are fine because it is hard to fathom how having a relationship with someone you love can be so restricting. But once you realize how damaging the relationship is and break it off, you get an unwarranted sense of amazement and joy from realizing what you have been missing.
Britney Spears - Why Should I be Sad (2007)
On top of this, there is the added bonus of being able to look at the next lover in the eye and letting them know they are feasting on your leftovers.
Toni Braxton - He Wasn't Man Enough (2000)
Being able to derive some points on how cheating negatively effects the cheater is a huge landmark in the recovery process as well.
Gorilla Zoe - Echo (2009)
