9 Reasons Mulan Is The Greatest Example For Girls As A Disney Character

Disney is great for creating characters that have the best qualities and know how to stand out. However, sometimes I feel like people can forget about Mulan because she isn't technically a Disney princess. If you really think about it she's definitely underrated, it didn't even hit me till a month ago of how much of an incredible Disney character Mulan is.

So, here are nine reasons why she is the greatest character.

1. She took her dad's place and went to war!

This is really one of the main reasons why Mulan is high-key a great Disney character. She was looking out for the people she loved and put her own life at risk for those she cared about.

2. She still wanted to bring her family honor.

Though Mulan wasn't your average girl she still wanted to bring her family honor. She might have gone against everything she was supposed to, but in the end, she brought her family honor in a different way.

3. She wasn't afraid to speak up.

From the very beginning of the movie to the end Mulan spoke even when others were telling her not to speak. She didn't let anyone think less of her or make her feel small.

4. She never gave up.

She never gave up on herself, on Mushu, on her training, on her friends, and yes even on practicing her man voice.

5. She thought about others before herself.

Whether it was her family, a little girl on the street getting picked on or Shang. Mulan was thinking about those surrounding her first before she even considered herself.

6. She used her failures as learning experiences.

So her first couple days of training didn't really go as planned, but even when everyone thought she couldn't keep up, she knew she could. Mulan was the first to get the arrow from the top of the pole and she eventually was outrunning everyone.

7. She took saving China into her own hands.

When everyone including Shang believed Mulan didn't belong on the battlefield she believed she did. She came up with a plan and figured out how to get her friends to listen to her, in order to save the Emperor. She didn't need a Captains order telling her what to do because she could easily do it on her own.

8. She saved all of China!

Mulan risked her life to save all of China and she didn't do it for glory or even honor. Mulan truly risked her life to save others because she knew it was the right thing to do.

9. She created an example for girls and woman.

The Emperor saw this, her family saw this and so did all her friends. Mulan took what the typical stereotype of women was at the time and changed it. She showed that women can be strong, independent and bring honor to their family in many ways.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
