Many people wonder what it is like living in the Most Magical Place on Earth. Moving to Disney World has been an amazing experience, but it can feel overwhelming. Here is my experience moving away from home to work at Disney.
When I first moved into my Disney College Program apartment, I was terrified. I did not know how many roommates I was going to have or where they were from. I wasn't sure if I was going to get along with them or if I was going to have anything in common. Long story short, I checked in and carried everything I owned up three flights off stairs. Walking into my apartment, I was relieved to see that I only had 3 roommates. I instantly formed a connection with my roommates along with my freshmen year roommate. I started to feel less terrified about being in a new place because I had these new friends and old ones to help me.
Starting my job at Disney, I did not know what to expect on my first day. All I knew was my trainer's name and where to go. Walking into Animal Kingdom, I was taken back realizing how big it actually is when you are a cast member. When I met my trainer and my other coworkers I would be training with, I saw how nervous they were and I was relieved I was not the only one overcome with anxiety. A few hours into my first day, my coworkers and I were already cracking jokes and struggling together. We are done with our training now and it doesn't even feel like a job. I have made so many friends through my coworkers that the work is actually fun.
This experience has been one of the best in my life, and I can't wait to continue my journey with my new friends and this amazing new world. Like Timon and Pumba say "Hakuna Matata," meaning no worries. I have no worries about this new experience and where it is going to take me. I hope everyone gets to have this feeling in a new place.
