Moving Tips To Make Your Life Easier

Moving is considered one of the most stressful times of your life, and with good reason. It is hard to pack your life up into boxes and then throw it all into a new place that is unfamiliar. This is especially true in your 20's when you move to college and then an apartment or house sometimes multiple times. So, to make your life a little bit easier I have outlined some simple tips and tricks that will make your next move better.

1) Liquor stores and grocery stores have huge piles of empty cardboard boxes that they will gladly give you for free! There's no need to pay for cardboard boxes that you're probably going to throw out later anyway once you realize how much room they take up. Just make sure you understand that when you move into your dorm with huge Budweiser boxes it may cause your RA to check up on you a few extra times despite the fact that you explained to him that they were filled with socks.

2) Cardboard boxes are unnecessary sometimes. I've found in many cases that rolling suitcases are much easier to pack and to move around. They roll right into a moving truck or into an elevator. The only time it sucks if if you're going to have to climb a bunch of stairs.

3) Put your hanging clothes into garbage bags! Instead of folding all of your clothes into boxes just to arrive at your new home and hang them up all over again while lugging boxes of hangers around with you making it more of a hassle than it needs to be, you can simply put a large garbage bag over your clothes with the hangers sticking out at the top you can move them easily and efficiently without taking up too much space!

4) Label everything! It may seem like a hassle to label each box or list out what is inside, but that first night at 2:00am when you really need your tooth brush or a fork, you will be so thankful to know exactly where to look instead of opening 100 boxes.

5) Use those organizing drawers to move stuff in! Put the things you are going to want in them inside and then tape them closed! The stuff wont budge, the drawer wont fall apart, and you just saved yourself a few more boxes and time!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
