These things will make your days in your dorm better and your moving process smoother!

Five Things You Need If You Are Moving Into A Dorm

1. Command Strips

The most exciting (and stressful) part about the moving process is probably the shopping for decorations. If you are moving to on-campus housing or student-housing, most likely, you are not allowed to do any damage to the walls– but what about all those photos, art prints, and tapestries? Well, Command Strips are your perfect solution.

They are very easy to apply and will not chip the paint on the wall once it's time to move out. I personally recommend buying them before moving in on Amazon or your local grocery store since during late August everyone will be trying to get them. This brand also has hooks and other kinds of items to help you decorate your walls!

2. Mini-Fridge

A mini-fridge! You might be living in a college dorm where you have no kitchen or a community-kitchen, or perhaps you are living in a bigger apartment with a full-size fridge. For either of these options, you might want to consider getting a mini-fridge. On one hand, if you will not have a kitchen, this way you will be able to store some snacks for whenever you are too lazy to leave your room. On the other hand, if you share a full-size fridge with your roommates, it may be helpful to have extra storage in case you all go grocery shopping together and run out of fridge space.

Personally, I would recommend getting the ones that come with a fridge and freezer.

3. Comfy Clothes

Since this semester, most of us have a majority of online classes, it might be time to invest in some comfy clothes - A pair of sweatpants, some comfy shoes, or oversized hoodies! Even though you might live somewhere where the weather is still very humid and warm, remember that dorms are usually very cold.

4. Mirror

I know a lot of us know the importance of mirrors when taking Instagram pictures, right? But mirrors are also a huge help when it comes to making a small space seem bigger. Most college rooms are rather moderate in size, so I recommend adding at least a small mirror to make it look more spacious. Remember that you will spend a lot of time there and after a while, it can get overwhelming. You can choose from a variety of shapes (circular or rectangle), sizes (smaller or larger), and prices (affordable or a little bit more expensive).

5. Fun Stationery+Agenda

I realized that having fun highlighters, sticky notes, and pens help motivate me. The most important thing to get regarding stationery is a good agenda! Keeping track of your homework and plans is essential to keep your life organized. It's easy to forget about due dates and homework when you are overwhelmed, tired, stressed, or simply having a busy lifestyle. One of my favorite brands to shop for cute stationery is Ban.do.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
