You'll be sitting in a theater and munching on popcorn in no time.
1. "Captain America: Civil War" (May 6)
This is the movie Marvel fans have been anticipating for a long time. The story pits Captain America against Iron Man, Avenger against Avenger. Other superheroes are set to appear as well, including Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Ant-Man. New characters, such as Black Panther and Spider-Man will be introduced as well. The trailer already looks incredible, so movie-goers will certainly pack theaters this summer.
2. "Ghostbusters" (July 15)
Who you gonna call? This time, the ghost-busting supergroup is made up of four women, played by comedians Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and current "Saturday Night Live" cast members Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. The plot is still unknown at this point, but we do know that the receptionist will be played by Chris Hemsworth. There's no doubt that anticipation surrounding this remake will continue to grow till it premieres this summer.
3. "Finding Dory" (June 17)
In 2003, a forgetful fish named Dory swam into everyone's hearts. Now, 13 years later, "Finding Nemo" fans are finally getting the sequel they've waited so long for. Ellen Degeneres returns as Dory, the blue tang fish who embarks on a quest to find her family. The movie is sure to bring back old characters, but new characters are set to appear as well. New character voice actors even include "Modern Family's" Ty Burrell and Ed O'Neill. You'll want to swim over to the theater to see this film.
4. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" (November 18)
Get out your wands. J.K Rowling's wizarding world is back! This anticipated flick takes place in New York City before the age of Harry Potter. British wizard Newt Scamander, played by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, travels to the American city with a briefcase full of magical creatures. When some escape, trouble ensues. With J.K. Rowling working closely with the makers of the film, Potterheads are sure to be introduced to another magical story.
5. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (December 16)
And you thought you had to wait a whole two years for another "Star Wars" movie. In true Star Wars fashion, details surrounding this film have been under lock and key. However, Disney has announced that it centers on a group of Rebels that set out to steal plans to the Death Star. It also stars actors such as Felicity Jones and Forest Whitaker. The trailer is rumored to premiere before "Captain America: Civil War," so it hopefully won't be too long before we have a better understanding of what to expect from the galaxy far, far away. Lord knows we need something to tide us over while waiting for "Star Wars: Episode VIII."
Hopefully these films get you excited about the upcoming year!
