Back when films in color were considered new technology, Hollywood produced many classics that have gone down in history as some of the best ever. I'm not professional film critic, just someone who appreciates good movies, and so here are five old movies that I recommend for a night in with friends:

1. "Meet Me In St. Louis" (1944)

With an all star cast including Judy Garland, Margaret O'Brien, and Mary Astor, "Meet Me In St. Louis" is a romantic musical comedy from MGM set in the early 1900s. It's a fun and entertaining romp dealing with family, young love, and hometown pride. Songs such as "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "The Trolly Song" will keep you and your friends singing for days.

2. "Bringing Up Baby" (1938)

Starring Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn, this 1938 film chronicles the misadventures of David and Susan, as they transport a leopard named Baby to the estate of Susan's aunt. This movie is absolutely hilarious, full of quick wit, and great for when you're in need to laugh.

3. "The Wizard of Oz" (1939)

This film is definitely more well known than some of the others on this list. If you bring up "The Wizard of Oz," nine out of ten people will know exactly what you're talking about. It's another classic Judy Garland film and is full of memorable songs. Plus we all know the wicked witch was terrifying back in the day. If you're in the mood for a walk down memory lane, there's no place like Oz.

4. "The Thin Man" (1934)

This mystery stars William Powell as private detective, Nick Charles who has to solve the mystery of the disappearance of a recent divorcee. What makes this movie really fun is the dynamic shared between Nick and his wife Nora, played by Myrna Loy. "The Thin Man" is an engrossing mystery that spawned several sequels that will quench your thirst for more.

5. "Arsenic and Old Lace" (1944)

See Cary Grant again in this dark comedy about a man named Mortimer, who discovers that his eccentric aunts have dead bodies stored away in their house. This film perfectly balances humor, absurdity, and romance, and is full of incredibly unusual characters who will steal your heart.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
