I love going to the movies. It is a fantastic way to not think about your own life for a while. November and December have been and will prove to be a fantastic time for movie releases! Here are a couple you should consider spending that Christmas money on.
1. The Danish Girl (November 27, 2015).
Set in 1920's Copenhagen, this movie chronicles Einar Wegener played by Eddie Redmayne who after being painted as a woman by his Danish artist wife Gerda Wegener, starts to transition his appearance into a woman and goes by the name "Lili Elbe". This decision shows massive change for their marriage, and Gerda sticks with Lili as she goes through the first known transgender surgery. Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne called this role a "gift" and said it is an "amazing, beautiful love story".
2. Sisters (December 25, 2015)
This film reuniting Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, centers around two very different sisters who decide to throw one last party at their childhood home. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler sound like the dream team we've been waiting for. I hope I'm cool enough to throw a party like that one day.
3. Big Short (December 23, 2015)
Starring Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale this movie seems like a winner. IMDB states the film is about "Four outsiders in the world of high-finance who predicted the credit and housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s decide to take on the big banks for their lack of foresight and greed." Sounds cool, but I'll be watching for Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling.
4. Concussion (December 25, 2015)
Will Smith is back to the big screen in this dramatic thriller based on the incredible true David vs. Goliath story of Dr. Bennet Omalu, the intellegent forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of CTE, a football-related brain trauma, in a pro player. His powerful testimony puts him head to head with one of the most powerful organizations in the world.
And drum beat....
5. Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens (Christmas)
The much anticipated continuation of the saga created by George Lucas and set thirty years after the last movie "Return of the Jedi". Starring Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill among many others.
I'll see you at the movies!
