Due to the 25 inches of snow that were recorded here at George Mason University, there was not much I could do besides sit in my apartment and watch movies. It was the perfect weekend getaway to finish up any homework that was given the first week, and watch any movies that you claim you "don't have time for." Here are a couple of movies that I finally had time for:
"Gone"
Staring Amanda Seyfried, the protagonist is convinced that her sister has been kidnapped by her old kidnapper. The entire time, she makes up lies to people to try to get closer and closer to possibly finding the kidnapper, which gives the audience a sketchy feeling about her and if she's actually telling the truth. Even though it is in the thriller film genre, it was not as intense and I thought it would be until the last 30 minutes or so. That is where I felt my heart rate go up and quicken due to the adrenaline in the movie and the action picking up. Overall, it was okay; IMDb rates it at 5.9 out of 10, whereas I would give it a 5 out of 10.
"The Longest Ride"
Knowing this was another one of Nicholas Spark's movies, from watching other ones, I was definitely expecting a sad ending and someone dying. Surprisingly, it actually has a good ending, and wasn't as messed up as "Dear John." Sure, the old man died, but he was old and was just in a car accident, so we all knew it was coming, but the two ended up falling in love with a heartwarming ending. A very typical chick flick that made girls swoon over Scott Eastwood and his shirtless moments.
"The Ridiculous 6"
One of my coworkers told me to watch this, and as much as I do not particularly like Adam Sandler's acting, it definitely gave me a laugh. Having to hear Taylor Launter speak with such a country accent was super hilarious, since most of us are used to his werewolf days. Overall, I would have probably been okay if I had not seen the movie, but it was something to laugh about over these past few days being stuck inside.
The "Bring it On" Series
Who can say no to these when all of them just went on Netflix? Having an entire afternoon dedicated to these was such a perfect choice, as was reminiscing about when these first came out. My favorite ones out of the series are "Bring it On," "All or Nothing," and "In It to Win In." I used to be obsessed with Hayden Panettiere, and I really enjoyed the fact that a cheerleading competition took place at Disney World instead of the whole movie being filmed at a school. That was something that Netflix has done right.
After a couple of movies and T.V. shows later, the student body received an email saying classes are canceled on Monday, Jan. 25, which means another night of hanging out with friends and watching movies.
