When beautiful beach days, long summer nights, and carefree living come to an end, something new begins: the fall semester. At first, the "fall semester" is an enticing, exciting endeavor, but something happens as the semester progresses. Here are some examples of what you may experience:
Back to School Shopping: Fall weather calls for cute boots, sweaters, and scarfs, so you stock up. You even designate one outfit for the first day of classes. Plus, you put on makeup for your first 8:30 on Monday. Crazy right? As you enter your second week of the semester you honestly don't even recall where you put your new clothes and begin to wear that same pair of old sweatpants from your freshman year in high school. Cause rolling out of bed in what you went to sleep in allows for extra rest.
"A" student to a "C's get Degrees" Student: Syllabus week is one of the easiest weeks of the semester, and unfortunately, homework is assigned. The homework assignments during syllabus week usually include something along the lines of "read pages 45-145." You have set high goals for the semester, such that of finally getting that 4.0, so of course you're going to read the chapter! Duh! Something happens though... a similar assignment is assigned the second month in and you convince yourself that, "Oh I have to read chapter five? Nah, I don't have homework."
Joining Clubs: Those C's will get your degree, but are they enough? You have to spice up that resume and what better way then to get involved at school! You do your research on what clubs are available and you find interest in about 20 of them. Why not sign up for them all?! Will you have enough time to be in all the clubs? Yeah why not!
On a serious note, we all go through the motions when it comes to college and it's not easy to stay focused and always put in a 100 percent. Just remember to try your best, even if you don't want to!
