It's almost here. You've pushed through the past 12 weeks in anticipation of your last week of your classes. You've almost made it. Unfortunately, Easter is over, Spring Break has passed, there are no other possibilities to rest before finals week. You need to get through these last couple weeks on sheer grit and will alone. Some of you may be thinking, "Oh, I can definitely coast through the rest of my classes. All the important tests have past, all the lessons have basically been learned." Don't. Don't do this. You need to stay 'woke. You need to stay hungry. The semester is coming to an end, but you can't give up just yet.
Obviously, you still need finals. The problem with finals every year is how closely they fall to summer break. There's no way to change that fact, so you need to find something deep in yourself to stay focused, keep studying, and crush all of your finals. It isn't easy by any means, but you have to do it.
Here's why: think about what happens if you don't stay focused? What happens? " Oh, I just am a little disappointed at my grades a couple weeks into my summer." NO. Absolutely not. You have much more on the line than simply being disappointed. It might not seem it now, it might not seem it later, but eventually, you will realize how important your grades are. You need to keep these up. You need to treat these grades as if they control the rest of your life. In some sense, they do just that. If you're looking to graduate school, you need a good GPA. You need to absolutely impress the administration at your school of choice. This sets you up for a multitude of ways to be successful in your life. Trust me, it might suck now, but it will pay off later.
Not only do you need to do this for yourself, you need to do this for your parents. I'm assuming that a majority of you guys are getting some type of financial assistance from your parents to be put through college. Do you think they will be any type of pleased if you slack off in your last few weeks? Trust me, I know from experience, they will not be. They will threaten you with all sorts of things and punish you in terrible ways. The effects will be long lasting, but you can do nothing but blame yourself. You slacked off, you pay the price. Don't slack off, think of your parents.
You put in the effort now, you reap the reward later. You study more now, you succeed now, you win later. It is tough, no one doubts that. Everyone will agree that finals weeks in college is easily some of the toughest times in your life. Use this as motivation! Use their doubt to push you to be a better student, and crush these last few weeks. Find the effort deep down, turn on that fuel, and surpass all your goals with flying colors.
Do it for Ryan Gosling.
