7 Morning Habits To Help The Not-So-Early Bird Person

In This Article:

If you know me, you know I am the living definition of a non-morning person. I've tried to become a morning person and it just isn't going to happen. If you're like me, these easy habits can help make a small difference and hopefully make your morning a bit more bearable.

1. Ditch the snooze button

We all rely on the snooze button way too much, or at least I do. Choose a time to wake up and stick to it, you'll feel better after.

2. Stretch!!

Stretching or doing yoga can not only be peaceful and refreshing, but also has several health benefits including flexibility, stress relief, and improved circulation.

3. Drink water

Drinking a cold glass of water can help wake you up and alert you in the morning, or drinking hot water with lemon is a natural detox. 60% of your body is made up of water and by the time you've been asleep, your body is begging to be refreshed.

4. Eat a healthy breakfast

I know I'm guilty of often skipping breakfast due to lack of time or just simply not being hungry. However, eating breakfast can be a major health booster as well as a metabolism booster. There are tons of health benefits to it!

5. Listen to music

Who doesn't love a good dance party?

6. Take a break from your phone

The first thing we do when we wake up checks our phones. Try to enjoy the first few minutes of your morning without staring at a screen.

7. Read

Whether it's a simple positive or inspiring quote, or a chapter from your favorite book, reading can jump start your thinking and processing for the day!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
