Talking to people is hard. The more networking events you attend the better. It is even better if there is no pressure when you are attending them, like needing a full-time job. Even if you are not actively looking for a job, go find the networking events your department may put on or go to an event put on by a professional society.
3. Attend a social event where you don't know anyone
Networking and socializing may seem like the same thing but at social events, people usually come with their own groups to hang out with. Attend an event by yourself and see who you meet. Step out of your comfort zone and meet someone new.

7. Create a budget
A very important life skill is being able to create a budget. College is the perfect time to try a budget. You are independent but not independent enough that your parents can't bail you out if you go a little overboard.
8. Fail at something
Failure is the hardest thing to overcome but failing a test or to get the job you wanted is not the end of the world. So taking on these little failures and moving forward is important to accomplish any small success.
9. Vote
Go to your polling location and make an educated decision on someone you want in political office. Don't just vote to say you voted.

Anything that makes you step out of your comfort zone is important because it gives you a different perspective. Volunteering is perfect. It's not permanent, but one day can change the way you look at the world.
College is an amazing place. Get out there and experience more than what is required of you.
