More Self-Love Is Needed

You should go and love yourself.

More Self-Love Is Needed
Samantha Montgomery

The opinion you have about yourself is the only opinion that matters. From the beginning of our lives we are taught that what other people think about us is important and to an extent that is true. What your boss thinks about you is important, what your colleagues think about you is important, what your family thinks about you is important but what YOU think about yourself is the only opinion you should be worrying about.

We have become so consumed with our image and with how others perceive us that we do not stop for a moment and remind ourselves that no one’s opinion about us is important in the end. God made you an extraordinary person. Regardless of what others may say about you or may think about you, you are perfect and whole just the way you are. If you believe this and if you gain this self-confidence, your life will be changed. You will live your life differently. You will start to see the good in others. You will want to help others come out of their shell and show their extraordinary hearts. You truly will want to make this world a better place.

I propose more self-love. I propose more self-confidence. Each and every one of us has something so exceptional to offer this amazing world we live in which is full of so many extraordinary human beings. There is a freedom that comes with loving the perfect person God made you to be and it is up to us to show the world all that we have inside our hearts. I will admit, it is so terrifying. It is scary to even think about, opening your heart up for the world to see but it is the most self-fulfilling moment. Once you start showing yourself more love and kindness, you will feel free. It is different for everyone but when everyone starts to show that compassion towards their self, this world will start to see a movement of self-love which is what this earth needs.

Instead of using hate to fuel our egos we should use love and gentleness. Love can go a long way in someone’s life. Passion can drive some people to do amazing, wonderful things. Until we start treating our neighbors with love and kindness, they will keep their passions bundled up inside. We need to start showing sympathy towards the broken hearted. Once you start to give love, you will soon find love coming to you in so many amazing ways.

Love yourself. Love your demons and your scars. Love will take you so far in life and if you fall get right back up and keep spreading the love and joy of this amazing life we have been given. Life is such a blessing and it is so short so we must spend every minute loving and spreading laughter to all of our neighbors, brothers, and sisters. I know that it may be hard at times and that things do get in the way of our happiness but once we get past our struggles we will appreciate them because they are what make us human. Our struggles and our suffering make us stronger and more adequate to love the people God put on this earth.

So love yourself and all that you are. Even if right now you do not think it is possible to love who you are, time will slowly show you that it is possible to love your demons and your struggles. You are amazing, you are strong, you are infinite.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
