I find it difficult to bring up the topic that I am about to write about, therefore, I am going to use a newer animated movie "Inside Out" as an example.
I honestly cannot stand people like Sadness. Everyone gets it, you hate life, you've been bullied, you haven't smiled in years.
NEWSFLASH: Everyone has something that isn't perfect in their life.
By no means am I bashing people who have been bullied or others who have a rough life. I understand that. But here's the thing, you don't have to constantly make your world revolve around it. I commend bullying survivors who look to help others and are positive about life after hitting some low points.
On the other hand, I despise the people who constantly play the tiny violin. We get it, your life sucks. Although, at the same time, if you aren't going to make an effort to help yourself, then don't make others feel bad too. It's just plain wrong and annoying.
For instance, the people who get massive amounts of attention for broadcasting their ongoing sob story. Two words: MOVE ON. Yes, it is an interesting story to read. That is exactly my point. It is an interesting story to READ and then be done with. It is not something to constantly bring down and throw it in others faces that your life may not be so amazing.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, either. I have also been bullied. Try being a new student in a different school every year of elementary school and middle school, weighing in at 180lbs and being incredibly tall for your age. Shit happens! You don't see me talking about it every five seconds. I know where you're coming from, we all do.
I don't know if any of you who are reading this article have seen the movie "Inside Out" but the character, Sadness, had to have been one of the most annoying characters. It's okay to be sad, but the point of being sad is to build from that in order to be happy.
My advice to you, people who are like Sadness, look at yourself in the mirror and try to see the positive in life instead of the negative. Understand that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Truthfully, the more that you look for the positive, the less focused you'll be on the negative. Before you know it, you'll be more like Joy from Inside Out. Everyone wants a Joy in their life, not so much of Sadness.
